  • No skips! Every episode is a necessary listen!

Been following the show for over a year now and I’ve learned so much about the industry. John and David are master interviewers who always get to the heart of the story in 30 min or less. Going to be honest there are so many boring podcasts about health innovation— not this one! A total must-follow.

Why Healthcare Prices Are Like Fight Club w/ Mark Cuban, Co-Founder, Cost Plus Drugs
Q: What reforms or partnerships do you think are most promising to break the PBM-driven pricing grid?
Key reforms include expanding 'any willing provider,' improving transparency in rebates, and enabling direct manufacturer-to-payer or direct-to-consumer pricing paths that bypass opaque rebates and reduce patient cost.
Why Healthcare Prices Are Like Fight Club w/ Mark Cuban, Co-Founder, Cost Plus Drugs
Q: How does Cost Plus Drugs compare to GoodRx or discount cards, and why should a consumer care about price transparency?
Cost Plus Drugs publishes a single, universal price for everyone, independent of location or plan, whereas discount cards vary by pharmacy and geography; transparency reduces confusion and helps patients budget and choose intelligently.
Why Healthcare Prices Are Like Fight Club w/ Mark Cuban, Co-Founder, Cost Plus Drugs
Q: Tell us, maybe start a little bit, like after basketball and TV and digital, what got you intrigued by healthcare?
I'm drawn to disruptive industries where incumbents aren't beloved and an alternative is clearly needed, especially in drugs where pricing is opaque, which inspired Cost Plus Drugs and a model built on cost transparency and a modest markup.
Targeting the Root Causes of Metabolic Disease w/ Bob Geho, Founder & CEO, Diasome
Q: What is the significance of zero severe hypoglycemia events in the HDV group?
The absence of severe hypoglycemia in the HDV group during the trial is highly meaningful because severe events drive safety concerns and historically occur with new insulins; this finding supports the physiological targeting approach and could influence FDA considerations.
Targeting the Root Causes of Metabolic Disease w/ Bob Geho, Founder & CEO, Diasome
Q: Why was the maintenance period considered more important than the initial dose-optimization period?
Regulators view the maintenance period as reflecting durable effects in real-world usage, whereas the early period focuses on optimizing dosing; the maintenance period confirmed durable improvements in hypoglycemia and maintained HbA1c parity.
