Q: Tell us about you first of all, and then Rob, and how you became involved with this movement.
Dean shares that he's an Essex lad with no grand plan, who connected with Rob at university and later found purpose after Rob's death, realizing he could help others feel seen by starting to sit with strangers in pubs.

University life has been tiring but incredibly rewarding, with a supportive environment that helps the work feel possible, and a realization that the whole city and community are involved in bringing these changes to life.

The first project was with a local business, the West Coast Deli in Ullapool, making them autism-friendly with a quiet hour in the morning, a heat map for noise, and a visible acknowledgment of needs through a certificate, which families found very helpful.

The charity is called Supporting and Empowering Autistic Strengths, or CHESS, and it focuses on empowering autistic people within the community, starting in Ullapool and expanding to neighboring areas with involvement from local parents and businesses.
