I used to absolutely adore this podcast when Franny and Danez were the hosts (I never missed an episode), but the hosts who replaced them are not nearly as articulate, thoughtful, or sincere— which has drastically reduced the quality of the conversations. When I do occasionally listen to Vs now (which is not often), I’m immediately turned off by the current hosts’ interview style and often can’t even finish the episode, which, again, is disappointing as this was once my go-to podcast.
I am hopeful our new hosts will challenge themselves to go deeper and find the words to interrogate poems and poets, rather than settling for breathlessness and outpouring of affection as they often do. That's great and all, but don't stop there. It doesn't offer much for the listener.
Also, I found it a bit odd that the statement on Palestine - which I support - rightfully included a host of other conflicts but left out Ukraine (and if we're talking about it, Myanmar). It felt more like virtue... more
I have deeply missed this podcast in a way that this episode felt like coming home. The tenderness, the talks on vulnerability, ugh. Thank you for your statements at the beginning of this episode and thank you for the starting once over again with us listeners. Much much love 🩶
Brittany and Ajanaé announced that Jewish people do not deserve the safety of their own country today and that their land should be given to Arab (though Arabs are from Arabia). What that has to do with poetry is beyond me. All I have discover in this show is how appalling the levels of ignorance are in today’s liberal elites.
Thank you for your statement in solidarity with Palestine. Have always been a big fan of this podcast, and especially appreciate you for this clear and principled stance. Palestine will be free 🇵🇸♥️🇵🇸♥️🇵🇸

Conversations center around poignant themes in poetry, identity, grief, community, and creative processes. Often featuring renowned poets, episodes encourage deep reflections on the emotional landscapes inherent in the art of poetry. Noteworthy is the exploration of personal and societal issues, including family dynamics, queerness, and the pressures of creativity, all fostered through authentic dialogue and shared experiences. The hosts create a welcoming atmosphere that allows both poets and listeners to engage meaningfully with the narratives and themes presented, which speak to broader human experiences and connections.
