  • A Mourning For British Comedy

This podcast has reminded me how many Brit comedy films are either so great, or are dire, dire largely thanks to TV to big screen adaptations of the 70s and into the early 80s. But listening to the hosts top ten favourite sitcoms was pretty depressing (Keeping Up Appearances over Only Fools & Horses?!🤨)

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

S02 E03 - All My Friends Hate Me (2021)
Q: What are your thoughts about the humor in the film?
This isn't a classic black comedy; it's more psychological drama and horror than it is comedy, even though it has funny moments.
S02 E03 - All My Friends Hate Me (2021)
Q: Have you seen this film before?
No, I hadn't. I remember it coming out and getting a good reception, but I actively chose not to see it, which was a mistake.
S02 E09 - The Mouse That Roared (w/ Tyler Adams)
Q: How did you start your podcast on The Goon Show?
I grew up loving British comedy and accidentally discovered The Goon Show through my father, leading me to collect episodes over the years.
S04 E01 - Bean (w/ Bill Oakley)
Q: What is Bill Oakley's opinion on the adaptation of Mr. Bean into a film?
Bill Oakley believes that the character's physical comedy does not translate well to a big screen and is better suited for a shorter format, as it involves tiny movements and expressions that work better in a TV setting.
S04 E01 - Bean (w/ Bill Oakley)
Q: How much did Bill Oakley enjoy British TV comedy growing up?
Bill mentioned that he grew up with limited exposure to British TV comedy, primarily watching Monty Python and Benny Hill, which became very influential for him.
