Like I say in the title, brilliant Scottish humour. I listen to saved Breaking The News from years back, I love this show. There’s nothing quite like Scottish humour 5 big stars from me.
I love this podcast, great writing, great host, generally excellent guests with topical humour.
I’d never previously heard of Kemah Bob, thanks to the show for alerting me to her, I could have made a horrendous mistake and bought a ticket to see her at the Edinburgh festival going in blind as I often do to find new comedians.
There was absolutely nothing funny about her, she attempted a joke about Scottish island names which fell flat and was not close to even being humorous and then I thought ... more
Have listened to breaking the news for years. And never miss a episode
A very fast-paced, witty news quiz that is consistently funny. Those of us who are not Scottish may, occasionally, struggle with accents or miss some of the jokes relating to Scottish politics and pop culture, but the accents get easier to follow with time, and even when topics relate specifically to Scotland, the jokes transcend the specificity. A sharp, fast-paced topical panel show uses satire to unpack the week's headlines with a rotating quartet of comedians guided by a steady host. Episodes swing between politics, culture, sports, and light global affairs, all filtered through quick-fire rounds, game-style segments, and running gags that highlight regional humor and wit. Notable strengths include a strong balance of male and female voices, broad international relevance despite a Scottish lens, and a knack for turning serious news into accessible, laugh-out-loud banter. It likely appeals to listeners who enjoy up-to-date satire, lively banter, and a preference for UK and international news served with punchlines and personality.
