I enjoy some of their literary analysis on some of my favorite books, although sometimes I think they over analyze things that simply aren’t that deep. There’s definitely some overkill in the ACOTAR series that they can take away some of the joy/escapism of the books. I was interested in some of their latest episodes on social commentary surrounding gender politics, but they really couldn’t hold a decent productive conversation. In several of those episodes, it felt like what could have been a g... more
Such great insights and love the hosts. I made the mistake of listening to an episode that related to the book I’d just read in a series, thinking it would be analysis and deep dives on that book before moving on to the next. But way into the episode there were spoilers for the rest of the series in that one books episode with no warning 🥴 Will maybe come back when I’ve completed my tbr 😅
I truly cannot get enough of this show. After the devastating emptiness of finishing my favorite books and desperately seeking to find content that gave me that same feeling, I found these two ladies. The perfect mix of analysis, humor, and feeling like I’m hanging out with my best friends. I’m a literary analysis nerd and this podcast hits the spot. Warning: this podcast will ruin books for you, in the best way!!
I seriously love these two. I laugh every single episode and learn SO much about how to look at writing through a critical lens. It’s really enhanced the way I read. Amy and Jac have incredible insight and I leave each episode saying “Wooow, I totally missed that!”. Listening to this show is like having book besties on speed dial and really is the cure for book hangovers. Thank you both for what you do! I love being a listener. ❤️
Love yall deeply but it’s actually almost unlistenable to hear yall call him “kale.” it’s in the back of the book, it’s pronounced “Kay-all” I.e. like the word chaos but with an L on the end. Do you pronounce “chaos” as “case”? His name isn’t kale. Almost enough to make me not listen 😭
