  • Some good advice

There are some good advice, especially if you never took business 101.

At times these podcasts get redundant. It could be more engaging, and I wish they would level the sound of their music and their podcast.

Should our Director actively promote his business when our chapter is trying to fill that seat?

  • Cut the Profanity

Very disappointing to hear profanity from the host speaking this type of way on a professional business podcast. I will be listening another source of CEU’s for BNI from now on since I can’t take the profanity the host chooses to speak.

  • Episode 859

I generally enjoy this show, and find it exceptionally helpful. In fact, I tend to recommend this podcast to other members quite often. I found the negative attitude and profanity in 859 to be embarrassing and unprofessional. Great message. Poor delivery.

The four stars are for the average show. Not for this particular episode.

    Thank you.

  • The best CEU

Confession: I didn’t like CEU’s because they often didn’t feel

meaty and, probably for that reason, were boring. Then someone recommended this podcast. It not only made CEU’s feel worthwhile, it helped me actually understand BNI. Instead of feeling like I had a list of random tasks I was supposed to do each week, I began to understand the logic of it all much better.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

BNI 889: We Answer Multiple Questions
Q: Should chapters consider introducing other real estate professionals outside the core group, and how should exclusivity be managed?
Real estate referrals should be encouraged as they are a major opportunity, but introductions should not be framed as bringing new members into the chapter; exclusivity is determined by the membership committee and must align with each member's approved category to avoid inner-group competition.
BNI 889: We Answer Multiple Questions
Q: First and foremost, how should the meeting cadence feel, and is changing who presents during the weekly meeting appropriate?
The host acknowledges concerns that the meeting should not feel like a social club and explains that cadence and who presents can be appropriate if done thoughtfully; leadership should ensure the cadence supports education and energy without diluting the core purpose of the gathering.
BNI 887: Is This TYFCB?
Q: Is this thank you for closed business when a member refers one franchise outlet but not the second one, versus crediting the second sale to the first referral?
The correct approach is to credit only the initial referring member when the second sale is not a direct referral from that member; the second sale should be viewed as a separate opportunity that arose from the member's initial connection, and the ongoing referral chain (tier three or four) should be evaluated for its impact on ROI rather than misattributing it as TBCB.
BNI 885: Struggling to Get a Profession In the Chapter
Q: I got a question for you. Are you looking to continue to expand?
Yes, the strategy is to expand by asking for referrals in bulk and coordinating group invitations to a single meeting, which increases the odds of multiple applicants and a successful fit.
BNI 882: Advice on Multiple Applications for the Same Seat
Q: Shouldn't a seat be chosen for the good of the chapter as a whole and not for one individual? How do we move forward with the other applicants without harming the goodwill of the life insurance seat?
The committee should evaluate candidates holistically, basing a decision on which candidate provides the most value to the majority of members, while maintaining fairness and avoiding personal biases. Even if a letter from the life insurance seat argues for one outcome, the committee should strip out biased pieces and focus on what benefits the group.
