  • Some good advice

There are some good advice, especially if you never took business 101.

At times these podcasts get redundant. It could be more engaging, and I wish they would level the sound of their music and their podcast.

  • Cut the Profanity

Very disappointing to hear profanity from the host speaking this type of way on a professional business podcast. I will be listening another source of CEU’s for BNI from now on since I can’t take the profanity the host chooses to speak.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

BNI 916: How Should the Visitor Orientation Run?
Q: What are best practices and strategies for the visitor orientation at the end of the meeting?
The host suggests focusing on giving guests the opportunity to apply without heavy-handed demands, showcasing ROI and value from the chapter, and then guiding them to an interview if they show interest. The approach should be soft and supportive, with a clear, two-sided interview later that confirms fit.
BNI 912: The Power of One Report and Chapter Culture
Q: How should leadership teams approach The Power of One as an accountability tool so members see it as a roadmap for growth rather than a report card they fear?
Lead with a constructive, supportive rollout that celebrates improvements, clearly shows where members can grow, and uses the data to guide training and action, not to shame individuals.
BNI 907: How Much Can Visitors & Subs Speak?
Q: How much does a visitor get to say at a chapter meeting?
A visitor is allowed to give a weekly presentation up to two times; after that, they should either join or not, and if they have applied, they may continue presenting until their application process is complete, but not beyond the two-time limit.
BNI 901: Same Company in Multiple Chapters
Q: Hi Tim, as a BNI director, how should we view a business that places multiple representatives in different chapters and what about spouses or husband-and-wife teams joining separate chapters under related businesses?
The host suggests evaluating each applicant individually, focusing on whether the person is genuinely referrable, motivated, and capable of giving to the chapter, rather than making a blanket judgment based on the company's multi-chapter presence or family ties.
BNI 903: What Makes a Good President, Vp, ST etc
Q: Who has the final decision-making authority for leadership appointments in a chapter, and how is that process typically determined?
The host notes that, while it varies by region, in their regions the final decision lies with the regional leadership (managing director/executive director), not the chapter alone, to ensure alignment with the brand and overall governance; the process should involve collaboration and evaluation of qualifications and fit.
