  • Too late

Not sure why this is called “Daybreak” as the episodes are only available at 10 am in HK/Singapore. I quite like the show but the timing doesn’t work for me.

  • Not about Asia

I don't understand why this show is called such, but the topics have nothing to do with Asia. Better listen to the other Bloomberg shows, this is redundant and misleading.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Daybreak Weekend: New Home Sales, UK Prime Minister, Japan Marine Day
Q: How might the new housing legislation affect supply in the near term?
The legislation is expected to be a framework for reform rather than a direct mandate, with outcomes heavily dependent on local policy adoption and implementation timelines.
Daybreak Weekend: New Home Sales, UK Prime Minister, Japan Marine Day
Q: What could the June housing data imply for the US market and potential price movements?
The data could indicate a trough in affordability-imposed demand if rates stabilize and incentives persist, but prices may still face pressure from ongoing affordability challenges and inventory dynamics.
Market Analysis, US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer on US Trade Policy
Q: Anything you can say about the process and where it stands and what we can expect?
The process involves two sets of hearings and public comments to build a legal basis for actions, with a focus on unfair trading practices by Brazil, and ongoing negotiations to resolve issues while preparing for potential tariffs if needed.
Samsung's Soaring Profit Fails to Impress, Yen Outlook
Q: Are those statements true? I mean, is what the markets believe actually something that's happening on the ground in your opinion?
The guest argues that while some scenarios explain part of the move, not all market fears are grounded in current fundamentals; there are structural factors like policy gaps and anticipated fundraising that can drive sentiment, and would likely persist even with strong profits. He also points to the risk that leverage and ETF activity can distort short-term price action.
US Extends Strikes on Iran, China Consumer Inflation Slows
Q: Did the inflation data change the trajectory of China's domestic slowdown?
The guests indicate that growth is cooling but not breaking down; June CPI shows weak domestic demand while PPI suggests some inflationary pressure has peaked, implying a reflate illusion rather than a robust rebound.
