  • Authentic and thoughtful horror commentary

I first heard DeVaughn on Evolution of Horror and appreciated his commentary. I’ve really enjoyed diving into the Specter Cinema catalogue and have found Garrett to be equally insightful. My one constructive criticism is that I would love to hear you give more space to your guests. I often want to hear more from your guests but feel like they often don’t get much airtime. Thanks for providing great, down-to-earth horror content.

Alex provides a tight synopsis: a man with a sick mother kidnaps the CEO of a medical company, believing she is an alien, and in a confined basement faces moral and existential confrontations that reveal larger societal issues.
VAN HELSING (2004) ft. Mae Shults // Mary's Monsters
Q: Question one is, have you read the book and what are your thoughts on it?
Mae discusses reading Frankenstein in youth, noting it changed how she viewed classic horror while acknowledging the various nuanced depictions across adaptations, and she shares a personal appreciation for the balance of monster lore with literary symbolism.

James indicated his expertise and interest in British horror, indigenous horror films, and aquatic horror.
BATTLE ROYALE (2001) ft. Becci Sayce // Hunt or Be Hunted
Q: What are a few of some of your favorite sub-genres in horror?

PARENTS (1989) ft. Sarah Stubbs // Beware the Suburbs
Q: What are some of your favorite subgenres in horror?
I'm a gastro-horror girlie, so food and horror, cannibalism, all of that kind of stuff.
