  • This is a must listen podcast if you're politically and /or socially inclined in general. Not a lot of shows, especially in the audio only genre, truly can claim to host voices from every end of the ideological spectrum which BharatVaarta does with utmost neutrality. True to its name, this one is all you need to sound smart in your circle. Just wish there were more episodes every week than just one!

Anuradha Goyal on Temple Culture
Q: How has the temple-going experience changed over time, and what is missing in modern times?
There is a shift from a holistic, community-centered, inward-focused engagement to a transactional, consumption-driven approach where people visit for quick darshan and social display. The missing piece is a sustained, intimate practiceโ€”building personal relationships with a neighborhood temple, participating in temple activities, and honoring the energy exchange through devotion rather than mere sightseeing.
Anuradha Goyal on Temple Culture
Q: What is the purpose of a temple in dharma, and why do we go to temples periodically?
The temple serves as the abode of a deity, a home created to keep the divine close; rituals wake, bathe, adorn, and re-energize the murti, turning the space into a living connection between the devotee and the deity. Regular visits reinforce this energy exchange and provide a setting for community and personal practice.
๐ŸคฏHow PM Modi Won, Deepfake Politics & India's AI Race ๐Ÿšจ| Shashi Shekhar Vempati
Q: What is the future of journalism in this digital age, and how should India position itself internationally?
Journalism will always rely on institutional media even as user-generated content grows. The model will depend on sustainable funding, possibly through philanthropic support and diverse revenue streams, while investing in education and research to build globally credible media schools and fellowships that can compete with international outlets.
๐ŸคฏHow PM Modi Won, Deepfake Politics & India's AI Race ๐Ÿšจ| Shashi Shekhar Vempati
Q: How did Prasar Bharati evolve under your leadership, and what were the major reforms that made a difference?
The big shifts were professionalizing governance, digitizing archives, expanding broadcasting networks, and creating transparency through technology like digitization and digital distribution. It required overcoming decades of bureaucratic inertia, aligning leadership, and leveraging a COVID-era push for reforms that accelerated adoption.
๐ŸคฏHow PM Modi Won, Deepfake Politics & India's AI Race ๐Ÿšจ| Shashi Shekhar Vempati
Q: There's plenty that I want to talk to you about, but can you paint a picture of the pre-2014 digital landscape and what led to the election victory in 2014?
The early 2000s saw seeds of online engagement, but by 2014 digital platforms became central to mobilization and policy discussions. We moved from broad mass messaging to targeted digital strategies, with platforms like India 272 enabling professional participation and grassroots volunteers, ultimately reshaping the electoral narrative.
