  • If you can handle bad audio..

I tried to listen to an episode, but the amount of audio problems, internet connection issues, cross-talk, guys sniffling into the mic’s, made it a nightmare to listen to.

  • Really lovin these shows!

Both the “advanced kayak angler” with Dan and Kurt AND the “Reel Life” with Armando are super solid shows. The detail, tackle, technique, and juice I get from Dan and Kurt has been really changing up some of how I’ve been fishing. I’ve been backing up and listening to older episodes, I’m hooked! (No pun intended) Thanks guys! And the deep dive I get from Armando, gives me the content I love. Not only from who the angler is as a person, but also, all the extra info. Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

S4. Ep.39 - Kayaks vs. Boats — The Industry in Transition
Q: How do you see the pricing battle between traditional pedal kayaks and motorized open-deck kayaks evolving?
The price gap will likely compress as brands compete on features like spot hold, course tracking, and reliability; the Mosan/Mosa/EPDL ecosystem and the newer open-deck models offer more value for the motorized capabilities, which could push traditional pedal-drive kayaks to lower price points or more feature-rich offerings.
S4. Ep.39 - Kayaks vs. Boats — The Industry in Transition
Q: What do you think Old Town should do next given pedal drives are dying and Moza/Viia are pushing new tech?
Old Town's retrofit strategy for EPDL into older models seems like a smart, cost-effective pivot to stay relevant; the real test will be whether their open-deck Sportsman line can compete on features and price while embracing motorization.
S3. Ep.36 - Tactics & Tackle — Inside Core Tackle with Matt Stefan
Q: How do you balance innovation with price point and keeping products accessible?
Pricing is a constant consideration; they avoid overpricing high-end items and aim to keep products affordable while maintaining American-made production. They prioritize value, real-world usefulness, and education over chasing every trend, and they're wary of compromising accessibility for margins.
S3. Ep.36 - Tactics & Tackle — Inside Core Tackle with Matt Stefan
Q: Can you explain the Core Tackle Insider Program and its benefits?
The Insider Program is a monthly subscription ($29.99) delivering unreleased baits for tester feedback, with surveys, discounts, and early access. It's meant to gather real-world input to guide final production decisions and improve products before they hit retailers.
S3. Ep.36 - Tactics & Tackle — Inside Core Tackle with Matt Stefan
Q: How did the hover rig come about and why is it central to your brand?
The hover rig emerged from combining a 90-degree jig hook with a soft plastic and a nail weight, creating a rig that replicates natural bottom movements. It solved problems with durability and efficiency, and it became a flagship design that helped define Core Tackle's innovative identity.
