  • If you can handle bad audio..

I tried to listen to an episode, but the amount of audio problems, internet connection issues, cross-talk, guys sniffling into the mic’s, made it a nightmare to listen to.

  • Really lovin these shows!

Both the “advanced kayak angler” with Dan and Kurt AND the “Reel Life” with Armando are super solid shows. The detail, tackle, technique, and juice I get from Dan and Kurt has been really changing up some of how I’ve been fishing. I’ve been backing up and listening to older episodes, I’m hooked! (No pun intended) Thanks guys! And the deep dive I get from Armando, gives me the content I love. Not only from who the angler is as a person, but also, all the extra info. Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

S4. Ep.31 - The Reel Life: Slow Down to Win — Chase Lawson’s O.H. Ivey Breakdown
Q: What was the main shift in Chase Lawson's approach during the OH Ivey tournament?
He shifted from topwater bites to slowing down and flipping/pitching a lot more, staying in productive areas and methodically hitting sticks and cover rather than running-and-gunning.
S4. Ep.29 - The Reel Life: Punching, Flipping & Pitching with JR Mocaby
Q: How long do you stay on a spot when flipping or pitching if you don't get a bite right away?
The guest emphasizes treating flips and pitches as reaction bites; if there's no bite on the first hop and the area isn't showing consistent action, move on after that initial drop, but in practice, you may stay a bit longer if the cover looks promising and you're confident the bite could come with a different presentation.
S4. Ep.25 - The Reel Life: Shad-Spawn Secrets with Rolando Nandin
Q: How do you approach a school of bait to avoid spooking the fish and maximize your strike zone?
Position yourself to stay in front of the strike zone as long as possible, often fishing parallel to the bank and selecting baits that can get down to the depth where the bait ball is active; if necessary, approach from the edge or behind to intercept fish.
S4. Ep.25 - The Reel Life: Shad-Spawn Secrets with Rolando Nandin
Q: What presentation and gear work best during the shad spawn for kayak anglers?
A mix of jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, and swim jigs works well, with the jerkbait being a primary starting point; adapt rods (medium-heavy to heavy) and adjust hooks to ensure better hooksets on larger fish.
S4. Ep.25 - The Reel Life: Shad-Spawn Secrets with Rolando Nandin
Q: Starting off, how do you explain the shad spawn and when does it usually happen in Texas?
The shad spawn has a window that usually runs from late April through June, often visible in the 60 to 90 minutes before first light; conditions like slightly warmer water and early morning timing make this window optimal for targeting big fish.
