The ensemble is very listenable and one of my favorites. All of the cohosts are solid and endearing and come off as genuinely good critics. Humble, thoughtful and down to earth.
Way to go Erik, Sophia, Jay, Josh and everyone else on the team.
Be that as it may, Ryan McFatFace is not only a bully but a poor leader. Somebody put this repulsive podcast personality on time-out. He sounds like a petulant child talking over his co-hosts. If it weren’t for the great ensemble, this podcast with Ryan m... more
Why do all these tiers and retrospectives when it’s obvious the moderator and 2/3 of the panel haven’t watched the films and aren’t grading based on performance but on how angry they are that their favorite bro film lost.

For reals though, at least edit the dang audio. It’s a levels nightmare
Erik Anderson is probably one of the best that’s out there. He’s super smart, incredibly funny, and knows his stuff. Erik has assembled a very talented group of editors on the Awards Watch team. The podcasts are very entertaining and informative.
Not to pile on the Ryan McQuade criticism but, this is why I don’t give 5 stars to the podcast. Like many others have commented. Ryan makes every topic about himself and loves the sound of his own voice. There’s a difference between being passionate a... more
Not a serious podcast - they are shockingly unaware of their implicit racial bias.
As an awards nut I listen to tons of awards podcasts in my free time. This one was suggested to me by the algorithm so I thought I’d give it a try. I don’t think I’ve heard pundits as obnoxious and relentlessly annoying as Ryan McQuade and Eric Anderson. I checked them out on twitter and they are just as terrible there as well. Also they need to check that they are consistently talking into their mics properly because the sound quality is terribly inconsistent. I gave the show to episodes, but ... more

The show offers in-depth debates and critiques of film and TV through an awards-focused lens, often pairing rigorous analysis with lively panel banter. Episodes frequently feature deep dives into specific films or festival signals (Oscars, Cannes, Emmy season) and bring in guests from industry and journalism to broaden perspectives. A notable strength is the mix of strong host banter, candid opinions, and meticulous attention to award-season dynamics, which can yield insightful takes for listeners building campaigns or sponsorships around prestige tentpoles. A recurring contrast between outspoken hosts and well-credentialed guests tends to drive memorable conversations, though some listeners note it can tilt toward lengthy rants or uneven m... more
