  • Communism Much?

Show made by wokesters and ex-hippies. Listen to Autoline Daily for the same news without the bad flavor. Episode from Sep 6th, 2025 was the final straw for me. Love or hate Musk as much as you want, but to argue that a 1/8 compensation package for VALUE CREATION in new value as somehow “criminal” shows the commie flag flying hard. The covetousness & envy is disgusting. Then the idea that UNREALIZED capital gains should be taxed in an off hand comment continues the narrative of economic illitera... more

  • Could be improved

The overall content can be presented in lesser time, and better structured. Conversations. Feels dragged. Also scope can cover more with global focus than just around US.

  • Great content, hard to listen

I force myself to listen because the content is timely and valuable, but the “read the news” format is really hard to stay focused on. I end up having to rewind often as my mind drifts. Would be so so much better if it used a typical podcast conversational style. My preference would be that they trash the script and speak from bullet points.

  • Snooze fest

If you like the delivery style of NPR radio you’ll love Automotive News Daily Drive. The delivery style of a librarian telling you what happened in the auto industry. Very little opinion and analysis and what they do offer is so vanilla as to never offend OEMs. If you want more interesting daily auto news with actual opinion and analysis try Autoline Daily.

  • It was fine, but now all it does is push electric vehicles and most of the news is electric centered. Pushing tailpipe emissions without disclosing the negative environmental harm electric batteries and their manufacturing process creates.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

April 28, 2026 | Top dealer groups plagued by bait-and-switch complaints; GM earnings
Q: All right, John, so GM raised its forecast despite lower earnings this quarter. What's driving that optimism?
The optimism is driven mainly by expected tariff refunds of around $500 million, along with better-than-expected margins in North America and the belief that subscription services like OnStar and SuperCruise could become meaningful revenue sources, even as they manage cost pressures and regulatory shifts.
April 24, 2026 | Stellantis bets on four core brands; growing fixed ops revenue
Q: Tell me a few highlights. What do you take away from what you saw in the numbers?
The study shows pressure from independent repair shops is growing, customers defect at the two-year mark despite higher overall dealership revenue, and the key to retaining customers is managing white space, improving pricing transparency, and using video to justify service needs and costs, which together can sustain fixed-ops profitability and support new-vehicle sales.
April 25, 2026 | Weekend Drive: Should Stellantis just cut brands?; Elon Musk’s FSD admission
Q: Why is Elon Musk's hardware upgrade requirement a big deal for the perception of FSD?
Because it reveals that promises around software-only upgrades may have been overly optimistic and shifts the expectation from a software-first approach to acknowledging hardware constraints, influencing consumer trust and competitive dynamics with legacy automakers.
April 25, 2026 | Weekend Drive: Should Stellantis just cut brands?; Elon Musk’s FSD admission
Q: Is GM's shelving of the electric pickup a sign that the entire EV strategy is failing, or just a temporary pause?
It appears to be a pragmatic pause driven by cost, demand, and policy factors rather than a wholesale retreat from electrification; GM is waiting to develop their own platform and balance capital expenditure with market realities.
April 26, 2026 | Bonus Episode: Kia’s Eric Watson on the EV3 and electrification strategy
Q: How does the EV3 fit into Kia's broader electrification strategy?
The EV3 is positioned as the most attainable electric model in Kia's lineup, intended to broaden access to EVs, complementing existing models like EV6 and EV9, and to act as a gateway into the brand's EV ecosystem while maintaining a focus on value and technology.
