  • Communism Much?

Show made by wokesters and ex-hippies. Listen to Autoline Daily for the same news without the bad flavor. Episode from Sep 6th, 2025 was the final straw for me. Love or hate Musk as much as you want, but to argue that a 1/8 compensation package for VALUE CREATION in new value as somehow “criminal” shows the commie flag flying hard. The covetousness & envy is disgusting. Then the idea that UNREALIZED capital gains should be taxed in an off hand comment continues the narrative of economic illitera... more

  • Could be improved

The overall content can be presented in lesser time, and better structured. Conversations. Feels dragged. Also scope can cover more with global focus than just around US.

  • Great content, hard to listen

I force myself to listen because the content is timely and valuable, but the “read the news” format is really hard to stay focused on. I end up having to rewind often as my mind drifts. Would be so so much better if it used a typical podcast conversational style. My preference would be that they trash the script and speak from bullet points.

  • Snooze fest

If you like the delivery style of NPR radio you’ll love Automotive News Daily Drive. The delivery style of a librarian telling you what happened in the auto industry. Very little opinion and analysis and what they do offer is so vanilla as to never offend OEMs. If you want more interesting daily auto news with actual opinion and analysis try Autoline Daily.

  • It was fine, but now all it does is push electric vehicles and most of the news is electric centered. Pushing tailpipe emissions without disclosing the negative environmental harm electric batteries and their manufacturing process creates.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

June 4th, 2026 | How USMCA review could hurt affordability; Nexperia coming to the U.S.
Q: What should dealers take away from the Wide Whale study on FTC letters and consumer reviews?
Dealers should look beyond overall review scores and read actual reviews to identify red flags in areas like financing, advertising, and integrity, which can signal broader issues.
June 4th, 2026 | How USMCA review could hurt affordability; Nexperia coming to the U.S.
Q: Why does the affordable end of the market usually take a harder hit from tariffs than the rest of the market?
Less expensive vehicles have thinner margins, so any added costs squeeze profitability more severely, making it harder for automakers to absorb tariff hits on budget models.
June 10th, 2026 | Magna CEO on tariffs and uncertainty; GM bets on grid batteries
Q: With all these variables—sourcing rules, inflation, tariffs, incentives—what is the most challenging to account for today?
Uncertainty; it underpins the other factors and shapes the risk profile and capital deployment decisions.
June 8th, 2026 | Honda refreshes key models; Loren McDonald on why EV trucks flopped
Q: What's the biggest warning sign you're watching right now, and what would it take for these economic headwinds to show up in the sales numbers?
The indicators point toward a gloomy near-term outlook: inflation remains elevated, consumer confidence is down, and although current auto sales look steady, producers' costs are rising and real disposable income is shrinking, which could squeeze demand if conditions persist.
June 1st, 2026 | New UAW strike threatens GM truck production; who owns vehicle data?
Q: Can you explain what the AVOA is and who your members are made up of?
AVOA is a coalition primarily consisting of fleet operators, rental car companies, and insurers who argue that the data generated by vehicles should belong to the owners and be accessible to them, rather than controlled exclusively by OEMs. The coalition also includes public fleet managers and consumer groups who support putting owners at the center of data rights.
