  • Game Changing!

I have been acting in theatre since I was a kid. I have my BFA and MFA in Acting and I’ve learned more about the business side of acting in this podcast than my degree programs. And things are always changing. Lots of thought provoking conversations about the career of an actor.

138 - Bi-Coastal - Ali Stoner
Q: Hi Audrey, I'm an actor in Chicago with a visible disability and I'm trying to do market research for myself. What approaches work best for market research and casting opportunities given my situation?
Engage with SAG-AFTRA's Performers with Disabilities Committee, leverage relationships and networking to find audition opportunities, and consider outreach to multiple markets through casting director workshops, including virtual ones across cities. Focus on building supportive connections and a strategy that emphasizes relationships over merely chasing market data.
139 - Series Regular Tell-All - Briana Price
Q: Why does the contract require approvals for certain work, and how does that work?
Network-style permissions are common; the studio or network needs to know your availability and ensure the project won't conflict with the series schedule, especially for streaming-era projects.
139 - Series Regular Tell-All - Briana Price
Q: So you got a series regular. Did your life change?
No, the move to series regular didn't magically open every audition door; in fact, she notes there can be fewer auditions and more scheduling constraints due to contract obligations.
137 - Social Media Following - Brandon Black
Q: How has the shift to self-tapes affected your workflow and home setup?
Brandon explains the need for a permanent tape setup, the cost of entry, and how over time he organized a dedicated space to streamline filming and reduce frustration.
137 - Social Media Following - Brandon Black
Q: Are you union?
Brandon confirms he is in the union and discusses how union rules intersect with self-tapes, general auditioning, and opportunities.
