As a medical resident, I’m impressed by how this podcast is able to offer expert-driven insights into the cutting edge of oncology without losing listeners in the weeds of a highly specialized topic. These episodes are concise, charismatically delivered, and fascinating.

  • No help to practice. Agenda driven.

None of this helps me in my practice. It seems like an agenda driven outlet with very little, if any practice changing information.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

GLP-1 Receptor Agonists in GI Cancers: Hype or Promise?
Q: Do GLP-1s work differently across cancer types?
The data suggest variability by tumor type, with clearer signals in certain GI cancers and liver-related contexts, while benefits in prostate or renal cell cancers are less clear, underscoring the need for prospective and subtype-specific studies.
From Abstract to Action: Translating ASCO26 Research Into Global Practice
Q: How is the Proteus data likely to change practice in India compared with the US?
Atul explains that while the proteus approach offers a new option, decisions will still be driven by local cost, access, and multidisciplinary team considerations, with some patients preferring or needing radiation-based pathways depending on circumstances.
Breast Cancer Highlights From ASCO26: OPTIMA, lidERA, and VIKTORIA-1
Q: How should clinicians apply the Optima test-directed approach in early-stage breast cancer?
In postmenopausal patients with one to three positive nodes, Optima suggests many may avoid chemotherapy when a low risk score is used, while premenopausal patients require careful interpretation; Prosigna, not Oncotype, should guide chemotherapy decisions in this context, with longer follow-up needed for broader adoption.
GU Cancer Highlights From ASCO26: PROTEUS, TALAPRO-3, and RAMPART
Q: Can you summarize TALAPRO-3 and its potential impact on the treatment landscape for metastatic HRR gene-altered prostate cancer?
TALAPRO-3 added a PARP inhibitor early in the disease course alongside ADT and enzolutamide, showing a meaningful improvement in radiographic progression-free survival across HRR mutation subgroups, which may support earlier genomically guided combination strategies in this setting.
The Future of AI in Oncology: A Conversation With Google's AI Innovators
Q: What are the main limitations of AI in real-world, high-stakes oncology decisions?
Limitations include the need for expert human oversight, the complex balance of patient-specific factors and preferences that may not be captured fully, and the risk that AI reminders or suggestions must be delivered within careful, accountable medical decision-making frameworks.
