  • A Warm, Encouraging Companion on the Homeschool Journey

This is my comfort podcast. It genuinely feels like getting advice from a friend. Jean’s voice is warm, completely non-judgmental and filled with encouragement. Every episode is a reminder that homeschooling isn’t just attainable, but that it can be a truly beautiful and connected experience with your child.

I listen to at least one episode every day. They’re short and concise, which makes it easy to fit one in while I’m running errands or doing chores. I love the affirmations and quotes Jean’s... more

  • This is the podcast you need!

Jean is amazing! I love the calming and inspirational tone of her voice. You can tell she is passionate about homeschooling but not a “know it all”. But somehow it seems she does know it all. (Phew! Thank you) Listening to her podcast is like having coffee with your best friend and mentor.

  • Wonderful for All Families - Homeschool or Not

I am new to this podcast, and already it has positively impacted the way I think about myself and my children, and helped to inspire and inform the intentional environment we are creating for our family. We are not full time homeschoolers ourselves, and yet have taken away so much valuable insight and information - I would recommend many of the episodes to all parents, regardless of whether you homeschool, or not.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

School Principal to Homeschool Mom
Q: What role does curriculum play in homeschooling according to Mandy and Jean?
Curriculum is a starting point rather than a final authority; families are encouraged to adapt, mix, customize, and even design their own paths based on their child's needs and interests rather than following a one-size-fits-all program.
School Principal to Homeschool Mom
Q: What are the biggest mindset shifts parents need when switching to homeschooling?
Key shifts include moving away from constant benchmarking and data-driven teaching toward personalized progress, letting go of the curriculum as a rigid mandate, and embracing a flexible, child-centered approach that focuses on the child's interests and pace.
Foreign Language Learning at Home
Q: What is the Clockwork Methodology?
The Clockwork Methodology introduces words gradually, allowing parents unfamiliar with a language to see which word is replacing which.
Foreign Language Learning at Home
Q: Can you tell us a little bit about One Third Stories?
One Third Stories introduces children ages four to nine to new languages using stories, audio narrations, and interactive activities.
