  • This was so much fun. This interview was so informative and down to Earth. As famous and talented as Ben Barnes is, it is so sweet and refreshing to hear him explain his musical process, just like listening to a friend.

  • If you like beautiful books...

If you like beautiful books then this illustrated edition of a Terry Pratchett classic should really catch your eye!I have loved this book since I first read it, a long time ago. Like all Discworld novels, it manages to both turn the world upside down, while also making sense of it, and all the while allowing you to laugh. Gaurds, Guards first introduced us to Vimes, Lady Ramkin, Carrot, Nobby, Colon, et al! Not to mention an indept exploration of the Patrician and his mind! The plot is hilario... more

  • Not worth the money

This isn't a review of the novel. The story remains as excellent as it ever. Alas, this special edition is just not worth the high RRP. It's a standard hardback sized volume with standard paper with a few illustrations every so often. I was hoping for something special but it fails to deliver. Compare this to the excellent Illustrated Wee Free Men that was published several years ago.I'm happy to buy special editions but this just feels like fan exploitation, especially considering the RRP is £2... more

  • No Dust-Wrapper...?

Guards! Guards! - The Paul Kidby illustrated edition. Great illustrations to a great Discworld story. BUT: Did the dragon on the front board of the book burn off the dust-wrapper - or was there never meant to be one (a dust-wrapper)? Even at the discounted Amazon price, I would have expected a DW (got bored typing dust-wrapper...). Other than the lack of a DW, I would highly recommend this edition & say it is a thoroughly worthwhile addition to Sir Terry's wonderful series of stories. If t... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

A New Age Of Storytelling By Way Of Billy and Elton From NBC's The Voice Lucas West
Q: What can you do to expand your vocal range and performance after The Voice, and have you had that talk with mentors about expanding your skills?
Lucas shares that much of progress comes from embracing the intricacies of his voice, surrendering control, and applying the mindset work learned from John Legend to his performances.
The Greatest Undercover Informant Of All Time Ray Khan And Lou Valozl Was There
Q: I got to ask you a question. With all the people that you're sharing conversations with today, are they bringing up the same questions that you had to ask yourself in order to put this book even together?
Lou explains that many authors and informants grapple with fundamental questions about trust, confidentiality, and the moral implications of undercover work, and that these questions drive the narrative and the research for the book.
Tiger V Jack The Facts The Figures The Inside From Sports Writer Bob Harig
Q: What makes the Tiger vs. Jack comparison compelling beyond the raw counts of majors and wins?
The guest argues that the narrative is enriched by era, marketing, endurance, and the evolution of the sport itself; the book seeks to present multiple angles and invite readers to consider who truly had the broader impact, not just who won more, highlighting the complexity of greatness in golf.
Tiger V Jack The Facts The Figures The Inside From Sports Writer Bob Harig
Q: How is it possible for Tiger to remain so calm in front of the press, and what can broadcasters learn from his demeanor?
The guest explains that Tiger's composure comes from years of media exposure and disciplined preparation, and that his willingness to engage with questions—even when answers aren't expansive—helped shape a steady, respectable public image that endured press scrutiny.
Unflinchingly Raw Breaking Good From She Who Lived It Nikki Mammano
Q: Where can people go to find out more about you and your work?
She shares her website and invites listeners to contact her for speaking engagements and to purchase the book.
