This podcast transforms the listening experience into an interactive journey of critical thought and reflection. It’s what I’ve always wanted from a podcast! And, Beandrea’s ability to weave ideas together is like an alchemy of insight, transforming each episode into a beautifully layered experience.
Beandrea is one of the best cultural thinkers out there. She always has something thoughtful to say, and her examination of criticism is no different. Love that she’s also bringing her experiences as a critic to the proverbial table. I’d listen to anything she does, and this is a standout!!
What a wonderful introduction to the podcast! Loved the shared perspectives and wealth of media literacy from host Beandrea July and guest Angelica Jade Bastien. Enjoyed their discussion on the arts, the importance of Black storytelling as well as the intersection of patriarchy and Anti-Blackness as it pertains to Black women and mental health. Loved the annotations at the end and can’t wait to read Angelica’s book. Great episode!
Beandrea July‘s annotations is a fabulous concept which brings together critics to talk about both media and cultural tax and the art of criticism itself. The conversations are rich, intimate, exciting and revealing. And they provide a nuanced and unique view of the cultural objects and moments they take on. Absolutely a must listen!
