  • You are back: Perfect is the enemy of good

Great that you are back. Your “new” format is good for me. Perfect is the enemy of good. One suggestion: If your jobs allow it, perhaps, from time to time, you can comment a little bit on the latest films in animation, trends, and things of interest to animation students.

  • A North Star for Animation Industry Hopefuls

This podcast has been one of the biggest resources in my journey to becoming an animator. Going to a school that isn’t known for animation and being in an animation program that is barely a year old really made me feel like I was behind everyone else in the world pursuing a career in animation. Then one day I found this podcast.

Ben, Katie, and Garrett are excellent podcast hosts. Episodes are well thought-out, organized, and presented in hilarious, fun, and informative ways. They sound like v... more

  • A gem of a podcast

I’ve listened to a handful of other animation-related podcasts and ‘animation happy hour’ is BY FAR one of the best out there. Katie, Ben, and Garrett have this amazing chemistry and respectfulness towards each other, on top of their wealth of experience and knowledge of animation/the animation industry that they gladly share with listeners. It’s honest, interesting, engaging, and very well-produced. So happy I came by it!!

#32 - Personal Projects
Q: If you could go over some of the pros and cons you've seen so far of being self-employed?
A pro is that I get to work on what I want; a con is the financial insecurity.
#32 - Personal Projects
Q: What platforms would you recommend for other content creators to run a business or start a business?
YouTube is fantastic for AdSense revenue; Instagram and TikTok can be platforms to build an audience, but I think the best model is using social media as a way to sell a product.
#32 - Personal Projects
Q: How do you motivate yourself to work without a boss?
I've never had the problem of like motivating myself to work; I've always pushed myself to be productive, which comes with some panic about financial instability.
#32 - Personal Projects
Q: How are you enjoying it so far?
I've talked about it; I really like it. In one day, I get done what used to take me a week because I can now do six to eight hours of work.
#32 - Personal Projects
Q: How did you prepare to make the switch?
I needed to have a nest egg of money, like four to six months saved, and I was able to save money from Disney because we have a lot of overtime.
