Reviews

4.9 out of 5 stars from 45 ratings
  • The best ski racing podcast!

I don’t ever submit reviews on here but I have to for this. You really get to learn a lot about the people on the circuit and Nick is so fun to listen to on broadcasts and here. It makes you enjoy watching the races even more when you feel like you really know the athletes. Mikaela’s podcast is really fun, and The Next Turn is good (just a little dry sometimes), but this has the best production and feels the most professional. Side note: I wish Nick and Steve Porino could team up on FIS broadcas... more

Kalle Eriksson & Sierra Smith: The Art of Skiing Side by Side
Q: What role does trust play in their daily routine, both on and off the hill?
Trust is central; on race days it is professional and clear, off the hill they invest in shared activities to deepen the bond, which translates into better teamwork and performance on the snow.
Kalle Eriksson & Sierra Smith: The Art of Skiing Side by Side
Q: How did the coach-into-partner transition occur between Kalle and Sierra, and what made their first run click?
They initially had no clear plan, but from their first ride together they clicked; the trust and pace built quickly, and they found a rhythm that allowed Kalle to keep up and improve rapidly.
Kalle Eriksson & Sierra Smith: The Art of Skiing Side by Side
Q: What moment changed the course of Kalle's life, and how did he process it at such a young age?
He faced legal blindness after a late diagnosis, which forced a shift from planned mechanical work to adapt to a new reality, ultimately steering him toward para-alpine skiing as a new purpose.
Dave Ryding: The Quiet Determination that Changed British Ski Racing
Q: How did your early training shape your approach on race day?
Early training built a careful, technical, methodical approach; I learned to rely on consistency, adaptive tactics, and the willingness to push through difficult days to deliver on race day.
Dave Ryding: The Quiet Determination that Changed British Ski Racing
Q: Dave, what was it like when you finally won the World Cup race at Kitspüll/Kitzbühel?
It was a mix of disbelief and relief, with the crowd and atmosphere making the moment feel larger than life; more importantly, it validated years of hard work, consistency, and learning from the dry slope foundation.
