  • Really fun hang out with tech nerds

Great audio and video quality. The Twit network has a whole stable of shows about tech that range from tight and scripted to extended conversations. My favorite might MacBreak Weekly, a wide-ranging discussion between well-informed and courteous good friends but All About Android is a completely different group of good friends all obsessed with Android phones and that one is great too. The shows are especially nice to watch live on twit.tv for some company but subscribing to the podcast is handy... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Hands-On Tech 275: USB-C Cable Confusion
Q: Is there a way to tell what a cable can actually do just by looking at it?
Yes. Look for printed or embossed markings on the packaging or cable itself that indicate wattage and data speed, check for logos like USB, Thunderbolt, or Thunderbolt 4, and prefer cables with an e-marker chip for higher performance; if in doubt, choose certified Thunderbolt 4/USB4 cables.
Tech News Weekly 446: Is OnePlus Really Gone for Good?
Q: Why is OnePlus withdrawing from the US and Europe, and what does that mean for customers?
OnePlus is retreating from those regions due to competitive pressures and supply-chain costs, but will continue support and updates for existing devices with OPPO handling software updates, implying regional continuity for current users while a brand exit occurs in those markets.
Home Theater Geeks 534: The Van Cave Theater
Q: What were your primary design goals for the theater in terms of sound isolation, number of channels, decor?
The goals included a Dolby Atmos system, infrasonic subs, and very strong isolation so the theater could be used regardless of family activity, along with a visually impressive design and a huge 194-inch screen.
Home Theater Geeks 534: The Van Cave Theater
Q: So when did you purchase, actually you built this home, right? From the ground up, when did that happen?
Construction began after a year of planning in 2019, with the theater finally completed over four years later, including extensive isolation work and a complex, triple-layered structural setup.
Tech News Weekly 444: The End of the PlayStation Disc
Q: What stands out from the Pew Research survey on driverless cars?
The guest explains the disconnect between limited availability and high interest, noting very low percentages of people who have ridden in driverless cars but significant discomfort in public perception.
