  • Really fun hang out with tech nerds

Great audio and video quality. The Twit network has a whole stable of shows about tech that range from tight and scripted to extended conversations. My favorite might MacBreak Weekly, a wide-ranging discussion between well-informed and courteous good friends but All About Android is a completely different group of good friends all obsessed with Android phones and that one is great too. The shows are especially nice to watch live on twit.tv for some company but subscribing to the podcast is handy... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Hands-On Tech 266: Troubleshooting Android Auto
Q: What are your thoughts on Jeff's issue with missing message banners and voice commands in Android Auto?
The root cause is tied to Google's migration from Google Assistant to Gemini, and there are concrete steps to stabilize it, including checking the default assistant, completing Gemini onboarding, verifying permissions, and updating all related apps.
Hands-On Tech 264: Recovering Deleted Files
Q: Can you rescue a file that has been deleted permanently?
Yes, it is often possible depending on how long ago the file was deleted and what has happened since; checking the trash/recycling bin is the first step, then trying built‑in recovery tools, third‑party software, and potentially professional recovery services if the data is irreplaceable.
Home Theater Geeks 529: How to Add Atmos to In-Ceiling Speaker System
Q: I am in the process of buying a new home, and the builder offers a speaker installation with five in-ceiling speakers.
Scott suggests considering two overhead DB-85s to create a true Atmos experience (5.0.2) and also discusses alternatives like installing in-wall speakers around the TV, or using standalone subs to enhance the low end while keeping the ceiling speakers aligned for overhead effects.
Hands-On Tech 263: What Does Siri and Spotlight See When I Search?
Q: What do apps see when Apple searches inside them with the show content in search setting?
Apps generally cannot see the actual search terms or other apps' data; they only receive a deep link when a user taps on a search result that originated from the app's donated content.
This Week in Space 206: I Want to Believe
Q: What is Brianne Suldovsky's path into space communication research?
She explains her background as a social scientist studying public understanding of science, how NASA and the research community collaborated in a workshop, and how this spurred her focus on communicating about life in space.
