  • Really fun hang out with tech nerds

Great audio and video quality. The Twit network has a whole stable of shows about tech that range from tight and scripted to extended conversations. My favorite might MacBreak Weekly, a wide-ranging discussion between well-informed and courteous good friends but All About Android is a completely different group of good friends all obsessed with Android phones and that one is great too. The shows are especially nice to watch live on twit.tv for some company but subscribing to the podcast is handy... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Hands-On Tech 276: Smart TV's ACR Tracking
Q: Denise, is my TV really tracking what's on my screen and can I turn that off without breaking the TV?
Yes, the TV is tracking through ACR, but you can disable most privacy-related settings by brand-specific menus and opt out of personalized ads; using an external streaming box keeps the TV offline, reducing tracking.
Windows Weekly 993: The Columnist Savant
Q: Why is Copilot retiring features like Deep Research and Podcasts, and what does that mean for users who relied on them?
They note that AI tooling is evolving quickly; some capabilities are being retired to streamline features and push users toward newer, more integrated solutions within premium tiers, with users able to export or preserve work created before retirement.
This Week in Space 220: First on Mars
Q: What were the Viking experiments trying to detect, and what did they actually find?
They aimed to detect metabolism and potential life by analyzing soil chemistry and gas outputs; results were interpreted at the time as possible signs of life, but later understanding suggested Earth-like chemistry and reactive oxides could explain the observations, making definitive life detection inconclusive.
Hands-On Tech 275: USB-C Cable Confusion
Q: Is there a way to tell what a cable can actually do just by looking at it?
Yes. Look for printed or embossed markings on the packaging or cable itself that indicate wattage and data speed, check for logos like USB, Thunderbolt, or Thunderbolt 4, and prefer cables with an e-marker chip for higher performance; if in doubt, choose certified Thunderbolt 4/USB4 cables.
Tech News Weekly 446: Is OnePlus Really Gone for Good?
Q: Why is OnePlus withdrawing from the US and Europe, and what does that mean for customers?
OnePlus is retreating from those regions due to competitive pressures and supply-chain costs, but will continue support and updates for existing devices with OPPO handling software updates, implying regional continuity for current users while a brand exit occurs in those markets.
