  • Spreading the good

People have this idea that potions are these pests and “rats of the sky” but this podcast spreads the word that pigeons are actually great animals and is a great listen for anyone that likes birds or is into animal husbandry. Even if you do t own pigeons it still a great listen.

  • They’re finding their wings

First year was a little rocky with audio quality and music, but the interviews are getting increasingly better and the content is even more dialed in. As a new pigeon enthusiast that binged year one, I’m really enjoying the direction it’s going in. Get Rosemary Moscow on here!

  • Keep it up guys!

Love that you open up so many aspects of the hobby! Racing, rollers, shows, utility, etc.

I find real value here in this relatively unique hobby.

One thing I would love to see going forward is discontinuing the intro music as soon as the you’re done with the intro. It’s so difficult to hear and distracts from the speakers- including yourselves. Especially when listening in the car or in a busy setting.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

131. Building the Future of Pigeon Racing with Youth 4-H Programs with Mike Netzky
Q: What was the first thing you would tell someone who wants to start a 4-H pigeon racing program in their area?
Publicity is crucial. Advertise in multiple ways, leverage libraries, fairs, and community events, and don't rely on paid ads unless you have substantial funds. The more visible you are, the more families you'll attract.
140. Pigeon Policies with Bill Weima
Q: What proactive steps can listeners take to protect the hobby in their area?
Stay connected with the community, educate neighbors about the hobby, organize funds and legal backing, engage with pigeon and poultry organizations, and be proactive rather than reactive when bylaws threaten keeping birds.
140. Pigeon Policies with Bill Weima
Q: What's going on in your neck of the woods?
The guest describes provincial and municipal bylaw changes, the challenge of defining pigeons as livestock, and ongoing enforcement pressure in Ontario, with a push toward coordinated advocacy and legal action to secure clearer, fairer regulations.
138. Inside the Bloodlines: Gene Giegoldt and the History of Birmingham Rollers
Q: What does the role of band secretary involve for the NBRC?
It centers on collecting, verifying, and preserving pedigrees and breeding records, and facilitating access for NBRC members to ensure the bloodlines are accurately documented.
135. How to Start or Revive a Pigeon Club with Justin Thompson
Q: How did you approach getting the club re-established and affiliated with the AU?
He started by reaching out to potential members, adopting AU bylaws, filing a charter, and paying a small fee; the process was streamlined by doing payments the same time with a group and using simple registration.
