  • Mostly good episodes, far too trusting of government

I’ve really enjoyed these podcasts. There’s a great variety of content and perspectives, some a little dry, some fascinating and informative. Dan is a great host… mostly.

In a recent interview with former FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler, most a very good interview, Dan seemed to be heavily in favor of government regulation of AI. Tom even mentioned that the sudden turnaround of major AI companies (after years of opposition) being open to regulation as a “bright spot”.

  • 10/10 Will Keep Listening

Each episode is full of valuable information with no fluff. I always walk away from them having learned something new and certainly a broadened perspective. I think the host does a great job at perfectly timing his questions as to let the guest fully get their point across. Certaily worth of subbing

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

395: Lev Gonick, CIO at Arizona State University: Why Higher Education Must Disrupt Itself and the New Definition of AI Literacy
Q: What should be the role of faculty in the AI era, and how do we assess learning when AI is pervasive?
Faculty should design learning experiences, curate context, and help students make sense of the world, emphasizing sense-making and critical thinking; assessment should evolve to measure new competencies that reflect problem-solving and collaboration in an AI-augmented environment.
395: Lev Gonick, CIO at Arizona State University: Why Higher Education Must Disrupt Itself and the New Definition of AI Literacy
Q: What amount of AI competence or skills development should be required to graduate with an undergrad degree, and should it be required at all?
Gonick suggests we are in a transitional phase where early AI literacy is important, but the specifics will evolve rapidly; the focus should be on foundational skills like inquiry, prompting, and sense-making, with a gradual expansion of AI-related competencies as the field matures.
Dr. Ali Agha, CEO and Co-Founder of FieldAI | Live from HumanX 2026
Q: What is the role of human oversight in your autonomy stack, especially in mission-critical or safety-sensitive tasks?
Humans remain the ultimate decision-makers; robots augment human capacity and handle risky, repetitive, or dangerous tasks, while critical decisions involve human supervision and intervention as needed.
Dr. Ali Agha, CEO and Co-Founder of FieldAI | Live from HumanX 2026
Q: Can you share how FieldAI approaches reliability when deploying in real customer workflows as opposed to controlled lab environments?
FieldAI prioritizes adding physics-based reasoning and explicit uncertainty reporting so robots can communicate confidence levels and defer to human judgment when needed, ensuring safer, more reliable operation in dynamic real-world settings.
