🎄 This podcast was created as part of a seemingly endless life debt that resulted in a wish to give the world the gift of a bunch of nerds with microphones talking about old TV holiday specials. And now you know my dark origins.

🦃 This Thanksgiving in July, I’ve put out some extra table settings for some old friends.
Previously, on the Advent Calendar House, we watched Zack Morris be trash but still manage to find a girl and her dad a Home for Christmas. Now, thankfully,... more
🎄 It’s another Scrooge Sunday, which means we’re about to be haunted by a series of spirits as we ride the airwaves back to 1980 for a version of “A Christmas Carol” set in the studios of “WKRP in Cincinnati.”

This podcast describes my a lot of the Christmas memories of my childhood almost precisely. Brings on a lot of nostalgia and warms the heart. I recommend this podcast to anyone who just doesn’t love Christmas but anyone who enjoys the season. This is my favourite podcast, helps me clear my mind and helps with the harder days to put it lightly. I definitely give it 5 stars, I would give more if possible! Love the podcast, love the topic and love the atmosphere. Thank you for what you do! It truly... more
As a Gen Xer (kid in the 80’s, teenager in the early 90’s) this podcast really hits that nostalgia sweet spot. Mike is super knowledgeable and seems to have a real affinity for the stuff he covers. My favorite part is when he covers specific holiday episodes of older TV shows. I love that I can listen to many episodes over and over again, like a favorite holiday special. The guests are a little hit or miss, most are great- knowledgeable and excited for the topic- but there have been a few who se... more
Just stumbled upon this podcast and I’m hooked.
Keep the specials coming!
Each episode is a blast. Fun and informative, and one of the most entertaining Christmas podcasts out there.
I can't get your theme song out of my head. I find myself singing it randomly -- "just beware of the icy patch". Otherwise, I love Mike's wit and dry sense of humor. The subject matter is great, but it really is the host who makes this podcast a must listen. He is insightful and he provides a unique and interesting persepctive. Plus, he has a great rapport with his guests. One of my favorite Christmas podcaasts!

A deep-dive nostalgia show focused on TV holiday specials, with thoughtful analysis, trivia, and personal anecdotes from a rotating panel of hosts and guests. Episodes explore classic and obscure Christmas-themed episodes, musical numbers, and special moments, often pairing rigorous research with playful banter. A notable strength is the thorough, behind-the-scenes context and the way hosts connect old specials to broader themes like family, memory, and holiday spirit, making it appealing to listeners who want both trivia and heartfelt storytelling. A consistent edge is the well-prepared, roundtable format and willingness to cover lesser-known gems, not just the obvious classics.
