  • Accessible for people not in medicine

I found this podcast through Erin’s other show, TPWKY, and really enjoy it. I’m an elementary school teacher so not involved in medicine at all, but after spending months at Sloane Kettering with my dad as a patient, I like learning about medical issues and conditions. I like this podcast because it’s detailed but still accessible for people like me.

  • INSPIRING & EDUCATIONAL

So inspiring at the same time that educational. I’m not a physician and I could perfectly follow and enjoy Dr Bacha’s story and experience. I would highlight the real passion we can feel in all his words.

Cerebral Organoids Provide New Strategy to Personalize Glioblastoma Treatment
Q: What does the shift in treatment goals mean for glioblastoma patients?
It suggests that instead of trying to eliminate every cancer cell, the aim is to disrupt the tumor's integration with neural networks, thereby restoring function and extending quality of life, with personalized drug regimens guided by patient-specific models.
Cerebral Organoids Provide New Strategy to Personalize Glioblastoma Treatment
Q: Could you explain the basics of the Glico platform and its components?
Glico uses cerebral organoids derived from the patient's glioma stem cells to create a living, modeled brain environment that mirrors the patient's tumor and immune interactions, enabling high-throughput drug screening in a clinically relevant context.
Cerebral Organoids Provide New Strategy to Personalize Glioblastoma Treatment
Q: How did that research background influence the way that you approach both science and clinical care at New York Presbyterian and Weill Cornell Medicine?
It led to breaking down silos between neuroscience and cancer, motivating a translational approach where the clinic informs the lab and the lab aims to drive real patient care.
Navigating High-Risk Pregnancy with Multidisciplinary Cardio-Obstetrics Care
Q: Can you tell me more about the Adult Pulmonary Hypertension Center?
Dr. Haythe describes the program as a collaboration between cardiology and pulmonary specialists, with one of the largest cardiac and lung transplant programs in the country, plus a dedicated ECMO/shock team to support the sickest patients and those awaiting transplant. This multidisciplinary setup enables comprehensive care for complex cases.
Redefining Treatment for Chiari Malformation with a Transitional Care Model
Q: How does the Chiari CARE program fundamentally change patient outcomes and access to care?
The guest explains that the program integrates pediatric and adult care under one system, reduces care gaps, coordinates multi-specialty testing and treatment in a single visit, and uses data-driven tools to tailor decisions, leading to more efficient care and better outcomes for patients with Chiari malformation.
