But we also have the chance to become something we cannot yet imagine, and by doing so, lay the foundations for a future we would be proud to leave to the generations yet unborn. What happens if we commit to a world based on gener... more

  • Honest Hope for Dark Times

Manda is one of the brightest policy minds of our time. She tells the truth, even when it’s hard, and that is sorely lacking in the world right now. Her podcast is a must for anyone who wants to figure out how to get humanity to the best future that is still possible.

  • Outstanding

I get so much from this podcast. Manda is exceptionally skilled in conversational interviewing. Combine that with her ability to select and bring on the best of the best guests, and I look forward to every show. As an American who has been witnessing the loss of our democracy and the effects of our president’s actions on other countries and, of course, on our precious planet, I appreciate the voices of non-Americans whose values are similar to mine and who have not been subjected to traumatic an... more

  • I can’t stop listening to this

She is feeding me something I’m not getting anywhere else. My ears and soul are glued on whatever she’s emitting. I think it’s the brutal honesty about the emotional gravity of where we are, and still she is finding was to inspire me forward to participate more in life and wake up every day to really, truly try to be here at this time.

    What a gift.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Playing the (New) Money Game - how to recreate sustainable money with Stef Kuypers of Happonomy
Q: How does the Sustainable Money Model address inflation and provide stability during downturns?
By introducing a Demerge-based tax that destroys money stock, a guaranteed income in a complementary currency, and a demerge-free buffer for organizations, the model aims to keep the total money supply predictable and to dampen boom-bust cycles while encouraging spending over hoarding.
Playing the (New) Money Game - how to recreate sustainable money with Stef Kuypers of Happonomy
Q: Can you explain how money is created in the current system and why that leads to unsustainable debt?
Banks issue loans which create new money; when loans are paid back, the money disappears and interest is paid with money that was created from nothing, resulting in a debt-based system that benefits lenders and imposes perpetual repayment on borrowers.
Collective Effervescence - ReDefining a Democracy that Works with Isabella Roberts of ANTIPARTY
Q: How can we separate politics from democracy in practice, and is a Citizens' Assembly a viable path forward?
The host and Bella discuss that separating politics from democracy means moving away from party-driven, winner-take-all systems toward deliberative processes where citizens deliberate and reach consensus, with support from professional facilitators and careful design. Citizens' Assemblies can provide legitimacy and empathy-driven outcomes when combined with mechanisms for expert input, iterative decision-making, and scalability through tiered constitutional or regional structures.
Sculpting Invisible Materials: Expanding Empathy in the Hot Mess of Now with Dylan McGarry of Empatheatre
Q: What impact has your work had on legal processes or policy?
Our plays have produced cultural artifacts and testimonies that count as evidence in environmental rights cases, helping to surface intangible heritage and enable court decisions that protect ecosystems and communities.
Sculpting Invisible Materials: Expanding Empathy in the Hot Mess of Now with Dylan McGarry of Empatheatre
Q: Can you explain how elephants listening through their feet informs your work with humans and communities?
It shows that non-human receivers of habitat have a real and embodied way of sensing the world, which you must listen to if you want to protect ecosystems; this informs our practice of embodied empathy and somatic grief as ways to connect communities with place.
