  • Constructive feedback

Very informative podcast, I love it. There is room for improvement the accuracy of some details but overall it is basic and useful education. I.e. Ivabradine requires a minimum HR of 70 and not 60, plus the presence of sinus rhythm. Also, His bundle pacing is not that new and is being left behind by Left bundle area pacing at this point. Otherwise, great podcast. Keep it up!

  • Very informative -- will inspire you to eat better

I thought I knew a decent amount about nutrition but I have been learning a lot from each episode. It is definitely making me take a closer look at my food choices, but instead of making me feel bad, this podcast makes me feel excited about eating healthier foods.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Evolving Role of PCSK9 Inhibitors in LDL-C Management
Q: What are the current options for PCSK9 inhibitors and how do they work?
Currently available PCSK9 inhibitors include monoclonal antibodies like evolocumab and alirocumab, which lower LDL by 60-65% by preventing PCSK9 from degrading LDL receptors, and a first-in-class siRNA (inclisiran) that reduces PCSK9 production, offering substantial LDL reductions with different dosing schedules.
The Evolving Role of PCSK9 Inhibitors in LDL-C Management
Q: So what did you think of these new guidelines?
The guidelines provide practical LDL targets and emphasize initiation and intensification of therapy, which helps standardize care and makes it easier to decide when to add non-statin therapies, including PCSK9 inhibitors.
ATTR-CM Treatment: Recent Updates
Q: How does atrial fibrillation influence treatment response and what did the data show about both AF and non-AF subgroups?
Data suggest that the benefit of disease-modifying therapies persists in both AF and non-AF groups, with improvements in biomarkers and functional status across subgroups, indicating broad applicability of the treatments.
ATTR-CM Treatment: Recent Updates
Q: What do the recent post hoc analyses of ATTR-CM trials suggest about recurrent cardiovascular hospitalizations and overall outcomes with acoramidus?
The analyses indicate that acoramidus reduces recurrent cardiovascular hospitalizations relatively early in treatment, suggesting benefits beyond the initial hospitalization and a potential impact on longer-term morbidity.
Spotlight on Behavioral Health, Thrombosis and Fertility
Q: What is the relationship between thrombosis and fertility, and how does it present in patients?
Thrombotic issues are relatively common in women with reproductive potential, and certain conditions or treatments can raise the risk of venous thromboembolism during fertility efforts. Providers should communicate with empathy, assess patient understanding, and consider how clotting risk intersects with pregnancy planning and overall health, while offering information and creating a collaborative plan that respects patient autonomy.
