  • So much value!

I have listened to almost every podcast on here. Find this to be so highly value packed. Love the bite size amount of chunked information, with very very direct feedback and guidance. Allison is NOT afraid to tell us what she really thinks, and that is what we therapist-business owners need! I highly recommend.

  • Had to stop listening

I listened to a few of these episodes but had to unfollow due to the near-constant plugging of various products. Like every five minutes you’re hearing some kind of ad read by the host or another plug for therapy notes.

  • Ugh

I keep hoping this podcast will offer something, and I’m always disappointed. She offers such minimal info here that it’s almost laughable- - okay, she’s just doing this to recruit people for her consulting biz. But wait, then she also has advertising???!?? So, this podcast is all about making money for her. Don’t be fooled, this podcast offers NOTHING for its listeners.

  • Stop

This podcast has some (rare) helpful ideas, BUT with this many ads, it’s definitely a net negative. Bye…

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode #739: Working with Chronic Pain, feat. Sean Hershey
Q: How does pain reprocessing therapy differ from traditional CBT for chronic pain?
Pain reprocessing therapy aims to reduce the overall threat value of pain by addressing emotional processing and beliefs about the body, rather than merely teaching coping strategies, so symptoms can decrease or disappear when the emotional and cognitive patterns are changed.
Episode #739: Working with Chronic Pain, feat. Sean Hershey
Q: Walk us through how you start working with a client who has chronic pain.
We begin by reframing pain as a signal from the mind-body system and by educating clients on the three pathways—emotional, psychological, and misalignment with the true self—and then we guide them to befriend their emotions and reduce fear around symptoms.
Episode #733: Why Does Building A Practice Feel So Hard Right Now?
Q: How do we know if it's a marketing issue or a mindset issue?
The vast majority of problems therapists face when trying to market are actually due to mindset issues. If therapists aren't using best practices for marketing, it typically indicates mindset blocks rather than simple timing issues.
Episode #733: Why Does Building A Practice Feel So Hard Right Now?
Q: How have you seen the industry change in terms of marketing private practices?
The industry has changed significantly with the introduction of virtual practices and the shift to online marketing. Whereas before therapists struggled to get clients, the pandemic led to an influx. Now, however, therapists have to be more intentional and strategic about marketing in a saturated environment.
Episode #731: Creating Stability In Uncertain Times, feat. Linzy Bonham
Q: What practical steps can people take to do money differently in uncertain times?
Therapists need clarity about their financial situation, including what is coming in and going out, and should look for areas to be more intentional with their spending.
