This is a podcast that's nominally about bad games. In reality, every Monday, Gary Butterfield and Kaye Ross choose a game at random from the titles submitted by listeners, play it, and venture off on a freeform discussion that winds between the topic at hand and some dumb nonsense. We just need to admit that if old people are farting, it's a slippery slope before... you know. We also think children's games are awesome when performed by professional athletes.

There's not really much to this game, it's a shitty kart racer. We mostly talk how to make bars more quiet.

Deep Freeze is a Japan-only PlayStation Resident Evil clone where you’re fighting terrorists instead of zombies. It’s most noteworthy for its bonkers intro CGI, but there’s not much to say about a snappier tank control shooter. So instead, we ask the... more

Very little in the world is funnier than copyright infringement. That’s why the infamous Chinese bootleg game Titenic (spelling intentional) is worth taking a look at. It’s also kind of good? At least it plays well, and it’s short. Jack and Rose are ... more

  • Sad

These guys have always been brilliant, but the side order of performative righteousness has gone from a mild distraction to an insufferable nearly full-time obsession over the past couple years. The cringe used to be worth the laughs, but as of 2026, they’re too busy rolling distasteful topics around their palettes and elucidating their pungent notes instead of just being funny or having fun. Sad to see it.

  • Where’s the content?

Tried an episode and it spent just a few minutes on the episode topic and the rest of the episode talking about old reviews of OTHER games. Complete waste of time.

Frequently Asked Questions About Abject Suffering

What is Abject Suffering about and what kind of topics does it cover?

Two hosts riff playfully over largely 'bad' or obscure games submitted by listeners, using each pick as a springboard for freeform, humor-forward discussions that frequently wander into personal stories, pop culture, and tangents about nostalgia, media history, and niche internet culture. The show blends sharp game critique with long, conversational banter, making it feel like a casual hangout as much as a review. A standout trait is the hosts' ability to sustain entertaining off-topic digressions while still anchoring conversations in game history and design—appealing to listeners who enjoy personality-driven storytelling as much as game talk.
