This Is How AI Will Change the Transfer Portal Era in College Basketball
Q: Can you start with the elevator pitch for PortalVision?
PortalVision is a platform to help coaches with speed, efficiency, and decision-making in the portal, acting as a comprehensive, branded dashboard that can track recruiting pipelines, roster health, and staff notes, ultimately helping coaches make faster, more informed decisions.
Off-Season Player Development Blueprint | Reid Ouse, Catalyst Basketball
Q: What role does feedback play in developing elite players, and how do you balance it with player autonomy?
Elite players want feedback as a tool, and coaches should ask questions to stimulate problem-solving, allowing players to navigate and adjust themselves while the coach offers timely, targeted input when needed.
Off-Season Player Development Blueprint | Reid Ouse, Catalyst Basketball
Q: How do you decide the constraints for a small-sided game when working on a specific skill?
Constraints are adjusted continuously based on player level, position, and the exact skills we want to emphasize, with the goal of triggering the decision-making point rather than simply completing a drill.
Off-Season Player Development Blueprint | Reid Ouse, Catalyst Basketball
Q: What is the focus of your off-season approach compared to in-season training?
Off-season training centers on decision-making in small groups with constraints, aiming to create independent players who can evaluate and adapt in game-like situations rather than following a fixed drill path.
Coaching Strategies from a Final Four Coach | Jim Larranaga, Miami Hurricanes
Q: That week, how much do you prepare for the first opponent versus looking forward a little bit and preparing yourself, either you as the coaching staff or even also your players as well?
We take everything one game at a time during the regular season and use the prior planning to guide the upcoming match, relying on fundamentals and our prepared scouting to adapt for each opponent.
