  • Best podcast in the Java community

Difficult to find so much knowledge for free. It’s highly recommended to anyone in the Java community who wants to get inspired by amazing Java contributors and speakers. Each episode will teach you something new or make you think about different points of view in the software engineering habitat.

    Gracias Josh!

  • If you care about Spring, listen to this!

Good guests, interesting subjects. Can definitely recommend.

Only downsides: Josh can ramble a bit much and you may need to skip some pointless 10 minutes spent talking about coffee and commutes that would’ve been better spent talking with the guest about their actual expertise. And he should show a bit more spine and ask some critical questions or disagree with the speaker.

  • So much Doge! Brain expanding!

I started listening passively. Then I found myself quoting and thinking more about the episodes for days after I heard them. I decided to restart the series from the beginning. The second time through I learned even more. It’s amazing to me that there is so much knowledge and insight in such a young show. Easy to consume. Great dialogue. Tons of education. If you get the chance, I highly recommend it. It is so choice!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ronald Dehuysser, founder of JobRunr, on their ambitious new ”ClawRunr”-like agent runtime
Q: This is a distributed job scheduling engine. Is that fair?
Yes, it's a distributed system designed to schedule and run jobs across a cluster, with a leader node coordinating recurring work while other nodes provide resilience and scalability.
Java Developer Advocate Ana-Maria Mihalceanu
Q: How should a student decide whether to pursue Python DSA given a Java-focused career?
Ana-Maria counsels learners to follow what makes them happy and to evaluate long-term goals rather than chasing a single language trend, emphasizing that problem-solving mindset and continual growth matter more than any one language.
Neo4j legend Jennifer Reif
Q: Are you on the Internet? Do you want to be found? And if so, where can people find you?
Jennifer explains she stays active on LinkedIn and X, and can be reached via jmhrief.com, which also hosts her blog and links.
John Willis, author of ”Rebels of Reason”
Q: What's your view on how AI will affect software engineering careers, especially for seasoned professionals?
The guest argues that AI will act as an amplifier, increasing the ability to describe, guide, and reason about complex systems rather than simply replacing developers, with experienced engineers benefiting most from AI to tackle higher-value work.
Jetbrains legend Marco Behler
Q: What can you tell us about Kotlin and its support in IntelliJ?
Kotlin is extremely important for us at JetBrains, and we're always trying to improve its support in IntelliJ while remaining compatible with Spring features.
