  • My fave 80s music interviews podcast by a MILE

LOVE this podcast, it’s a serious under-the-radar diamond. I’ve just finished the 2 part Andy Richards one and the level of detail and discussion is simply brilliant. A MUST!

  • Bill Smith

Great first part episode. Bill may have not worked on albums that are favourites of mine musically, but I love his work and his style and he has great stories to tell too. Can’t wait for the next episode. Book ordered too

  • Valuable research

I first found this podcast while searching for podcasts featuring Gary Langan who I was due to interview myself. I stuck around and binged every episode.

I love the dedication the host (who’s name I don’t think ever gets revealed) take to put together every episode. There’s obviously a tonne of research going on.

His production style is fun too, if a little amateur in places (hence 4 stars) (I’m an audio producer, I’m fussy). I love how he uses his children and keeps in all the outtakes.

  • A wonderful podcast

It’s very rare to stumble across something as special as 80sography, but I’m glad that I did. The host is knowledgable, funny and has an obvious love of great music. It’s impressive how he gets to talk to so many 80’s icons, puts them at ease, and gets them to reveal so many secrets from the recording process. For anyone that wistfully thinks back to a time of great songwriting and innovation, this podcast is a must.

  • Good but…

I enjoy the interviews, but the sound quality on some of them is so bad they’re unlistenable.

Q: So were you credited on Opportunities, then, for the editing?
No, no, but I mean, I don't think you'd expect to be, really.
Phil Harding's 80:10 (pt 2) (Pet Shop Boys, SAW (2), Misc Singles, Charity Singles, 12" mixes)
Q: So when you answered, you know this is the B side for a single, or was it just you're doing a track with the Pet Shop Boys?
I hadn't heard the A side, but I was told by Tom and the Boys that it was going to be a B side, hence, quite happy to do it overnight and to do it quite quickly.
David Weiss AKA David Was' 80:10 (Pt 1) (Wheel Me Out, Was Not Was LP, either/or)
Q: What does the name David Weiss mean to you now?
It's about my equivocal position on all things, and it's true that I'm one of those people who everything sounds sensible to me.
Andy Richards' 80:10 (Pt 2) (George Michael, Pet Shop Boys, Chris de Burgh, Prefab Sprout, Producing, Misc)
Q: What's your favorite keyboard part you played in the 80s?
From a nostalgic point of view, I'd probably have to look at the sort of classical motif for 'Very Cross the Mercy'.
Andy Richards' 80:10 (Pt 2) (George Michael, Pet Shop Boys, Chris de Burgh, Prefab Sprout, Producing, Misc)
Q: What was the first track you worked on?
The first track I worked on with Chris de Burgh was Lady in Red.
