  • Too little

Too many empty pauses. Too much uninteresting small talk. Too little good solid astronomy talk. Please unsubscribe me. Thank you. Also, one needs to send a “nickname” with the comment. I tried 3 and all were “taken.”

  • Mostly Gems

Mostly Gems, some duds, but if you like, love, or live astronomy there's something in it for you. And it's daily(compiled here weekly)! Open up your mind, truth is stranger (and way more fun) than fiction.

Entertaining and informative, they are short enough to squeeze in between other things. Each is different, and there are guest podcasters.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep. 756: SphereX
Q: Is there a highest possible frequency of light?
There is no limit to the wavelength of light, just limitations in what our equipment can detect.
Ep. 756: SphereX
Q: How can an armchair astronomer consume detailed data from the SphereX mission?
It'll all be landing in a NASA repository, probably in a large data release similar to the way they do with Gaia.
Ep. 753: Why is the Moon's South Pole So Interesting?
Q: Are there any plans for a telescope to be placed at the South Pole?
Current discussions involve putting telescopes both at the South Pole and on the far side, with the possibility of utilizing lunar regolith for construction.
Ep. 753: Why is the Moon's South Pole So Interesting?
Q: Is landing at the South Pole of the moon more difficult than landing elsewhere on the moon?
Yes, landing at the South Pole is significantly more difficult due to complex geology and the need for more propulsion to change orbits.
Ep. 753: Why is the Moon's South Pole So Interesting?
Q: Will it be safer to mine the asteroid belt in other locations than the moon, considering how important the moon is to the Earth?
No, mining on the Moon is safer because it has enough gravity, offering secure orbits and reduced risks compared to the fragile and poorly understood asteroid belt.
