  • 5 stars and sleep deprivation

Hey Joe. Came across your show. Awesome offering to squeeze it into 10 minutes (plus/minus). I’m a former detective (Australia) who is very resilient and listens to quite a few murder podcasts. Have to say some of yours have really impacted me. Perhaps it’s the 911 calls or some of the descriptions of killing methods. Decided to binge your podcast. Have over 600 to get through. Started from the beginning (time of COVID). Appreciate your work, although sleep is being subbed out to get through the... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Missing in Cleveland: The True Story of the Seymour Avenue Abductions
Q: Hey Charles, walk me through again what happened this afternoon when you heard the screaming?
I heard a girl yelling for help, opened the door thinking it was a domestic dispute, and then helped Amanda Berry and the others escape, realizing there were more people inside. I called 911 after seeing the child and the woman demand help, and we then proceeded to break the bottom of the storm door to let them out.
Jeffrey Mundt and Joseph Banis: The Fourth Street House of Horrors
Q: Hi Joe, when you sit down to record, are you in quote, performance mode, or does it feel more like you're just talking to one person?
Joe approaches recording as if he is talking to one singular person right in front of him, rather than performing for millions of listeners.
Justin Mohn: How Right-Wing Radicalization Led to Father's Beheading
Q: What does killing your father have to do with that?
Well, he was a federal employee and betrayed me. I was trying to perform a citizen's arrest.
The Teahouse Killing: Sada Abe's Twisted Love Story
Q: How do you decide which cases to cover?
The host mainly chooses cases based on listener suggestions and personal interest.
The Joker Killer: James Holmes and the Aurora Theater Massacre
Q: Do you still listen to other true crime podcasts since you started your own?
He receives fewer episodes due to focusing more on research for his podcast, but he still listens to some true crime podcasts when he has the time.
