盧國益表示，針對在野黨主席受邀訪中，這是中共慣用的角色錯置手法，企圖繞開台灣合法民選政府，向國際社會營造兩岸有溝通的假象。盧國益說明，在野黨主席不具備代表國家談判的正當性，中共口中的和平實則是建立在威權脅迫之上，唯有中共願意正視中華民國存在的事實，兩岸才會有真正的對話。

羅文嘉表示，中共是一個由國家主導一切的專制政體，在其思維中，兩岸關係無一處不是政治。無論是觀光、體育還是科技交流，中共背後的用意往往是「套、養、殺」，最終目的是要將台灣併吞。他提醒國人，必須認清對手的本質。

羅文嘉表示，海基會是全台唯一受政府委託、執行公權力的民間財團法人。其成立於1991年，早於陸委會，當時背景是兩岸政府互不承認，卻因老兵探親與偷渡客遣返等現實需求，不得不透過白手套機制處理事務。
談到交流現狀，羅文嘉認為，中共常將兩會往來當作政治工具，在民進黨執政時片面切斷對話。他強調海基會現在秉持「民主、和平、人道」三大原則。交流是維護民主的手段而非目的，和平則須建立在實力基礎上，而非天真想像。 more
