AYS - Answering YUr Shailos - Eikev 5786
Q: Question number three: good benchmark for knowing it's the right time to start dating?
A person should seek readiness for marriage, including religious, emotional, and financial preparedness, and be able to envision parenting within a year; dating should not be pursued solely for desire for companionship.
AYS - Answering YUr Shailos - Eikev 5786
Q: Question number two: proper behavior for the kihila during Chazaras Hashatz?
Do not distract during Chazarat Hashatz; avoid common distractions like setting up tablecloths or collecting charity during the chazarashat; focus on amein and the kavana required for Tfilat HaTzibur.
AYS - Answering YUr Shailos - Eikev 5786
Q: Question number one: if one is having a Shabbos meal with his wife and parents, who should he give challah to first, his wife or his parents?
The host should distribute the bread with the balabais taking the first bite and saying the bracha, and then the rest are shared; in practice, many follow giving to parents first, then wife, then others, with the balabais focusing on taking a bite first to avoid a hefsek.
AYS - Answering YUr Shailos - Chukas/Balak 5786
Q: To what extent does Gnev Estas apply to deceptive conduct in games, e.g. misrepresenting resources or bluffing in games?
Deception in games is generally handled with caution; if the deception involves real bargaining power or misrepresentation in a real negotiation, halakhic authorities treat it as inappropriate and possibly prohibited. When deception is purely part of a game, some authorities see it as permissible within the game's rules, but there are concerns about teaching children to lie, so one should avoid encouraging deceit outside the bounds of the game.
AYS - Answering YUr Shailos - Chukas/Balak 5786
Q: Can Rabbi please discuss what counts as baltashchis? For example, is scraping over leftover food on my plate considered to be baltashchis?
Baltashchis involves destroying something that could have future use or benefit; the practical rulings show that when the item could be useful, destroying it is forbidden min haTorah in many cases, but if there is a direct need or toelas (benefit), exceptions apply. The discussion covers various examples (destroying food, clothing, or other items) and emphasizes not wasting resources that could serve others, while allowing certain destructions for legitimate needs.
