身為一個旅遊領隊，郭禾薰身負公司業績的壓力，成功的她也在無意間養成了傲慢之心。但從小聽母親唸法華經，其實她心中早已種下菩提種子而不自知，在接觸了「絕妙說法」一書之後，她漸漸懂了。在一次朝山之行，她看到了石縫中的小草不卑不亢的態度，從小草的高度看了另一個世界，她了解到人不分貴賤，自己沒甚麼好驕傲的。

曾濟群校長在與師父相處中，看到了師父“平凡中見其不凡，平實中見其真情”，他推崇師父的身教行誼，追隨師父的理念，也從師父的語錄「用平常心面對不平常之事」解其平常心，他也以此來面對生活中的不平常。
他與師父間有很多奇妙的對話，不僅讓他一步步的來到法鼓山，他非常感恩師父有機會讓他來追隨，而他也盡力的實踐師父的理念，尤其在自然環保的部分，從石門的自然農法，三芝的維護自然環境到新莊的傳播教育理念來達到環境的永續發展。
