日露戦争で戦死した高祖叔父の吉田鴻治さんが旭日章（８等級）と勲八等・白色桐葉章という勲章を授かっていました。公文書館にて実際の文書「明治37、8年戦役賞功裁可書」を見せてもらいに行ってきました。おそらく100名ほどの名簿の中に確かに名前や所属部隊の名が書かれていました。多喜雄、鴻治兄弟は鹿児島でどんな生活をしていたのか考察しました。

高祖父の原宿が本籍であった明治中期のことを調べていて、とある地図から現在の場所のあたりをつけ渋谷区に旧土地台帳を取り寄せることに成功。とそこに書かれていたのは当時の広島藩の浅野家の方々。一番古い土地台帳から最後の大名浅野長勲を見つけられました。

明治の戸籍謄本に「吉田彦治」という人がいました。調べてみると大正3年に「軍犬ノ養成並使用法ノ研究」というものを残しているようで旧陸軍大尉でありながら軍用犬や警察犬の研究をしていた最初の人物のようです。彦治とうちの家系との関わりやざっくりと彦治の歴史などの話です。

鈴木さんが先祖を辿る足跡が具体的で面白く、だんだん古くに遡るにつれ歴史が深まっていく感じがしてわくわくします。色んな地域の名前や昔の慣習が出てきたりもして日本史の勉強にもなりますね。最後の先祖のお名前に辿り着いた時はじんわり感動しました。本当にたくさん時間を使ってじっくり調べられたんだなと思いました。
一人語りの口調も落ち着いていて、とても耳触りが良いです。先祖巡礼、今後が楽しみでもあり、いつか終わってしまうのが寂しくもあります。いつもの二人語りも最高に好きですが、一人語り番組も何かで続けて頂けたらなと思いました。
