  • A Great Listen for every Welsh Rugby Fan

I look forward to this pod every week. Win, lose or draw you can always count on the team to give a fair, balanced and moreover insightful view on the week’s games and events. They know their stuff and moreover they care deeply about their regions and for the game as a whole in Wales. Keep up the good work.

One small request though - please sort out your audio levels. Hattie & Dan are fine, Nick’s a little on the bass side, but Harley…we miss half of what you say amidst crackle & fade-out. Pleas... more

  • Great for the fans

I listen to a few (mainly) Welsh podcasts, whilst some have great analysis from journalist, other exposures, what’s great about this one is it’s by fans, for fans.

It’s a it like hearing four mates in the pub, talking about rugby. They are each passionate about thier teams and make fun of each other but there’s a nice background of love and respect for each other. Also they all want one thing, Wales and Welsh rugby to thrive.

Long may this pod champion the little voice of the fans, hopefully i... more

  • Must listen of you follow Welsh Rugby

A must even if you are remotely interested in the world of Welsh Rugby. It is so refreshing to hear the voices of genuine fans who care for their clubs. Plenty of humour and funny stories mixed with a serious discussion which unfortunately is ever relevant in the goldfish bowl of the sport in Wales. This Wrrap podcast, along with others in the franchise, deserve a lot of credit for promoting the sport, including the community and women’s game, which should be recognised.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Dragons & Ospreys season previews!
Q: What improvements would help referees do their jobs better in the context of changing laws?
Better education for spectators and clearer, more accessible explanations of law interpretations would help; technology should assist rather than replace human judgment, and a balance is needed to maintain game flow and continuity.
Dragons & Ospreys season previews!
Q: What are your thoughts on the referee shortage in Wales and the age profile of referees?
There has always been a shortage; the game has grown and age profiles have shifted younger. Recruitment and development are ongoing, with opportunities for ex-players to move into refereeing and coaching as viable long-term paths.
Dragons & Ospreys season previews!
Q: How do you cope with pressure from fans and media, and does that pressure persist after the whistle?
Pressure is a constant in officiating, but building strong professional relationships with players and coaches helps diffuse it; the focus is on learning from decisions, staying composed, and acknowledging human error while aiming to improve.
Defence is not an optional add on - WRRAP - Welsh Rugby
Q: What about the defence coach appointment and whether it signals a change in WRU strategy?
Nick articulates that appointing a defence coach is necessary and logical for Wales, arguing that the head coach should have support and that naivety around roles has hindered performance.
Head games - where Welsh rugby is failing
Q: What should be the focus for Wales in the upcoming match against Scotland?
Wales needs to disrupt Scotland's game early, particularly targeting Finn Russell to unsettle him and build confidence in their own play.
