  • Really Interesting

Really enjoy the format and breaking down of the aspects of fiction that are often taken for granted… by me anyway.

  • Interesting, intelligent and unexpected

It’s so good to stumble across a really good podcast like this one. The themes are interesting and always done well. The host is a great interviewer as well. He has a lovely voice, which makes it very easy on the ears. It’s unusual to find something that is as intelligent and well constructed as Words to That Effect.

  • So Good!

A fascinating and wide ranging exploration of the intersection of writing and the world. Every episode adds books to the to-be-read pile, which is both a blessing and a curse. Discovering historical and current connections between ideas and happenings that may, on the surface, appear disparate is wonderful and exciting. Feed your mind (with a lovely Irish accent).

  • So interesting!

This podcast takes me back to the absolute best parts of my literature degree - minus the wordiness. The stories it explores are told simply but engagingly, with knowledgeable guests and plenty of topics I have never learned about before. The narration is also really well done.

Excellently researched, written and edited, no rambling ego trips into the microphone. Each episode deals with fascinating ideas in areas I would never have thought to look.
