  • Really Interesting

Really enjoy the format and breaking down of the aspects of fiction that are often taken for granted… by me anyway.

  • Interesting, intelligent and unexpected

It’s so good to stumble across a really good podcast like this one. The themes are interesting and always done well. The host is a great interviewer as well. He has a lovely voice, which makes it very easy on the ears. It’s unusual to find something that is as intelligent and well constructed as Words to That Effect.

  • So Good!

A fascinating and wide ranging exploration of the intersection of writing and the world. Every episode adds books to the to-be-read pile, which is both a blessing and a curse. Discovering historical and current connections between ideas and happenings that may, on the surface, appear disparate is wonderful and exciting. Feed your mind (with a lovely Irish accent).

  • Always interesting

This is a very enjoyable literary podcast looking at the works, people and events that have shaped popular fiction. The topics are thoroughly researched, the episodes are briskly paced, without feeling hurried and sprinkled with humour. Conor Reid, has created a little gem.
