  • Ten Stars

Best one-card Marvel Champions podcast in the game. Always interesting and insightful, even if I don't always agree.

Would be a ten star review, but Boomguy drags down the average.

  • Best Marvel Champions Podcast!

I’ve been listening to this show for a while and I thought the conceit would get old, but I am continually surprised by how interesting and informative these discussions are about single cards.

I really appreciate how much the hosts care about the game community, spotlighting small creators and trying to share their love of the game.

Props as well for being one of the only MC podcasts that regularly feature female guests. As a woman nervous about interacting with such a male dominated communit... more

  • Way More Than 30 Seconds

I heard about this podcast for a while before I finally clicked on one. It felt like, “One card at a time? That can’t possibly be interesting.” But this show has proven me wrong time and time again. And, in fact, it turns out to the most interesting Marvel Champions podcast I listen to and there are a lot of good ones. As a new player, I come back to this show time and time again for their insight, passion and clarity. I appreciate that they talk about the art and fun factor as well as the sheer... more

  • Great Pod!

I’m a newer viewer (coming here from YouTube) and I love it! This is the perfect amount of chill detailed conversation to bring to a cooperative game like MC. And I know how much effort goes into coming together to record, as well as the editing process, so much respect to everyone involved!

Hey, if you want a guest sometime soon, reach out to the Cardboard Crash Course! My name’s Ethan and I’ve loved MC and Winning Hand for a while. Cheers!

  • One card a day keeps the Dr Octopus away

Fantastic show with an incredible hook, amazing hosts and spectacular guests. I especially love when they talk about decks to watch on MCDB.

Hey, since I know you read these - how about giving us a tiered list of villain difficulty? I know Klaw is easy and Ronan is super hard, but a list of all villains would be very helpful.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

E93: Nick Fury (Hero), feat. VJakson!
Q: What makes Fury feel like a 'best-in-theme-to-mechanics' marriage, in your view?
The design nails the spy fantasy through the suit form upgrade, form flipping, and threat management that rewards clever timing and information-gathering, all while delivering punchy attacks. The synergy between theme and mechanics is cohesive across the hero card and supporting cards, producing an immersive experience that also plays well in a variety of deck builds.
E93: Nick Fury (Hero), feat. VJakson!
Q: Why does Nick Fury have three traits on both sides, and how does that affect gameplay decisions?
Having three traits on both sides emphasizes Fury's multifaceted identity as a shield agent, spy, and soldier, which broadens card synergy and enables more consistent access to key trait-based effects. It also makes him a flexible but potentially more complex deck-building experience, since many cards and upgrades interact with those traits.
E93: Nick Fury (Hero), feat. VJakson!
Q: Could you describe the scene on Nick Fury's Alter Ego card and explain how it ties to the spy theme?
Nick Fury is depicted as a covert operator riding the waves in a stealthy assault form, which visually and mechanically reinforces his role as a spy who gathers intel and hits hard when needed. The dual forms—assault and stealth—are thematic and interwoven with how he shifts between gathering information and delivering decisive action.
E91: X-23 (Ally), feat. Mr. SelfDestruct
Q: What makes X-23 stand out as a three-cost ally in leadership?
Its burst potential is exceptionally high for a three-cost ally, with the ability to deal nine damage in a turn when used with recursion and support cards, and the option to ready after each successful attack gives it repeated value.
E90: Angela, feat. Leethus!
Q: What makes Angela so fun to play despite some potential whiffs?
The discussion highlights the thrill of flipping cards to find a minion, the free ally play, and the possibility of chaining Out-of-Beat moments with Overkill and other power cards.
