  • The best whiskey podcast I’ve heard

I’ve listened to a few podcasts about whiskey and this one is by far the best. I’ve been listening to every episode since the beginning in 2005 and never get bored listening. Lots to learn and it’s like a living encyclopedia of whiskey and bourbon for those who have any interest at all. Excellent!!!

  • An extremely informative podcast

Updating my original review (below) as it is several years old… this continues to be a very informative and entertaining podcast. The format has remained the same. I especially appreciate that this podcast covers all types of whiskey news, topics, and tasting notes, so there is much to enjoy.

Each show covers many areas, yet is not rushed through. The interviews are very interesting. I continue to enjoy this podcast.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

25 Years of Stories, Laughs, & Whisky
Q: So Greener Still is another release for our 25th anniversary, and what are we looking to do across the 25th anniversary?
Greener Still is a celebration of milestones from the past 25 years, with a shift from cask influence to emphasizing sustainable barley—featuring three barley varieties and biodynamically grown grain to showcase Bruichladdich's grain-forward identity.
A Year of Innovation at Four Roses
Q: Tell me first of all about the new 100 proof edition.
Brent explains the 100 proof edition came from a response to on-premise feedback and the desire to offer a higher-structure product that still uses the same base barrels; it is essentially the 80 proof recipe proofed down to 100 with the same materials, enabling stronger cocktails and broader appeal.
An Importer's Slant on Whisky
Q: How is the import business going these days?
Sam describes it as enjoyable with challenges, underscoring the resilience and passion behind whisky importing as a long-term vocation.
An Importer's Slant on Whisky
Q: What did it cost you to pay these tariffs?
Sam explains a 50-50 arrangement with suppliers on tariffs, with 5% of tariffs covered by a partner and 5% by ImpEx, ensuring price stability for customers.
An Importer's Slant on Whisky
Q: First of all, let's talk about the import business. How are things with the end of tariffs now in most of your import items?
Sam notes a relief as tariffs ease, saying they absorbed a portion and kept the end consumer prices stable, which helped retain consumer trust and demand.
