  • Good info, inconsistent volume

They provide good info, but their volume is far too inconsistent. There is one man with a loud deep voice and everyone else is softer. They need to do a better job at balancing volume.

  • HH 90th

Big fan of the show and content! I bought the HH 90th late last year and it is easily the best bottle I purchased in 25’. It definitely drinks above it's age. The hunt continues for a backup. Cheers 🥃

  • History Lesson! History Lesson!

Ben, Kyle, and Joe present a compelling discussion on the merits of a variety of bourbons. Fun and witty. Great conversations with so many of the pillars in the industry. They all equally share in the podcast. Except of course, The History Lesson, led by Joe. Fun and riveting presentation on the history of the distilleries, the folks and their families behind the distilleries, and the products. Lots of research. Thorough ratings of the bourbons the sample. They’re based in the heart of the West ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

4/9/26 Master's Series: 2XO Dixon Dedman
Q: Can you share the story behind the Tribute Blend?
Tribute is a personal homage tied to Dedman family heritage and his father's health; it will feature his family crest on the label, illustrating how individual stories shape each Icon Series release.
4/9/26 Master's Series: 2XO Dixon Dedman
Q: What should listeners expect from the Inkeeper Blend compared to the Phoenix Blend?
Inkeeper uses the same core components in different ratios, emphasizing more high-rye and double-barreled material for a richer finish and greater viscosity, offering a different mood and finish than the Phoenix.
4/9/26 Master's Series: 2XO Dixon Dedman
Q: How is the Phoenix Blend constructed and what makes it unique?
Phoenix Blend combines four components, with about 65% double-barreled high-rye distillate from two different char levels plus a low-rye bourbon component and other high-rye elements, highlighting how blending different maturations and sources creates depth and viscosity.
4/9/26 Master's Series: 2XO Dixon Dedman
Q: Tell us about the moment you decided to start 2XO and how it differed from Kentucky Owl.
I left Kentucky Owl because I wanted to control the direction and avoid being pulled into a path that didn't feel right for the brand or me; 2XO emerged as a deliberate, craft-focused project that emphasizes blending over building a distillery and mass-scale investment.
4/16/26: Independent Stave Company CEO Brad Boswell
Q: Is there a difference between a wine barrel and a whiskey barrel?
Yes, there are major differences: wine barrels are often toasted rather than charred and are typically made from French oak, whereas whiskey barrels are usually charred after seasoning, and the wood type and treatment are tailored to extract specific flavors like caramel, vanilla, and spice to suit spirits, with engineering and control processes to achieve consistent results.
