These stories are are so important as they show the experience and strength of survivors of crime and violence.
I found this podcast from Something Was Wrong, and I appreciate the focus on victims and ethical reporting of true crime. If you love true crime, this is the place to be.
I know this is kind of a random thought, but in the podcast, when Angelique said she didn’t understand why she lit the candle—I think it totally makes sense. I think it was her brain’s way of keeping her safe, like a subconscious protection. If the lights got turned off again, she wouldn’t be in the dark. Even if she didn’t realize it, I think that candle was her way of holding on to some control.
This podcast presents real people’s experiences in a straightforward manner. Of course there is expression of emotion, however it’s not overly dramatic.
You are an excellent podcaster and I appreciate the work you do and how you have overcome some horrific obstacles!
