  • Lovely

As a terminally online tankie podslop lover I can’t stop listening to this.

  • Clueless

For people who claim to be chronically online, why is every other sentence out of their mouths “well I haven’t seen…” “well I don’t know who that is…”. Feels like a show poking fun at subcultures they don’t care enough to do even the most basic research on.

  • Not for me

Used to sub to the Patreon but I’ve since cancelled. I like Jun and Caleb, both can be really funny and I agree with their politics. The problem is the podcast is too unfocused and surface level when they deep dive into interesting topics. It’s kind of like someone reading a Wikipedia summary but having to stop every paragraph for a diatribe or a bit. The best episodes are the tweet brackets where they can just riff and don’t need to be subject matter experts

  • Twitter-addled Slopfest

A podcast for and by terminally online tankies in the most derogatory sense. They try to cover serious topics but struggle to get even basic facts right and aren’t even entertaining while doing it.

CZM has far better podcasts in this vein run by people whose brains haven’t been scrambled by Twitter.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

You're Terminated, Fucker Ft. Mike Isaac
Q: What was the core issue of the Altman/Musk case and why did Musk pursue it?
The hosts and Mike explain that Musk claimed he was defrauded during OpenAI's transition from a nonprofit to a for-profit, and that the case framed this as a betrayal of the original mission, while Musk sought to unwind the financial implications or redirect funds; the discussion emphasizes the strategic, publicity-driven nature of the claim rather than a straightforward financial recovery.
Preview: Are We Doomed? Ft. Ben Bradford
Q: Two questions to start us off, Ben. First, tell us a little bit about your show and then the follow-up question: are we doomed?
Ben explains that the show surveys existential threats with a nuanced, sometimes pessimistic but increasingly hopeful lens, covering topics from nuclear war to AI, and aims to explore credible pathways rather than sensationalism.
We Need to talk About Grok Ft. Maggie Harrison Dupré
Q: What would actual safeguards look like from this?
Safeguards should ensure the technology cannot facilitate non-consensual content, specifically preventing wide-scale generation of harmful material.
We Need to talk About Grok Ft. Maggie Harrison Dupré
Q: How did you get on this beat?
I ended up studying media messaging and became fascinated with how media works on society.
Owned Ft. Eoin Higgins
Q: What was the research process like while writing your book?
The writing involved a lot of interviews, reading, and tracking various media narratives over time, which required intense focus and organization.
