This episode could have been interesting. They have an interesting guest who is knowledgeable about recruiting and NW football. The problem is a frequent one. One of the three hosts, John Lecomb, can’t shut up. He consistently talks over the guest who got to say very little. The audience if left to wonder: why have a guest? Just let Lecomb blabber, repeat himself, and declare how everything is “so funny”. I think he means so odd rather than funny and you’d think someone with a NW education would... more
I knew of these guys when I was a student, but didn’t really start listening regularly until I graduated and started my first job. Great and reasonable analysis from a Northwestern perspective, and really glad they give love to sports other than just football and men’s basketball.
Now I’ve previously ripped these NU Homers, but the WLP season previews are top notch. The crew does their research and separates the work between them, one taking the defense and the other the offense. They have data, cite returners, and provide real insight. They review schedules and do an over and under on each team. Every B1G fan should make this their go to preseason pod. Give credit where it’s due, these guys put in the work and the product reflects it. Best preseason B1G pod out there.
Call this one the Homercast! Being a fan is one thing. Doing a pod totally lacking in any semblance of credibility results when you are so deep into fandom it’s impossible to see a team’s liabilities.
Usually a smart guy pod. This episode they lose starting TB and OL guy and they celebrate. It’s all good? They talk all off season about QB Hillinski who they annoint all B1G, and he gets beaten out which is good news? No great news! Lots of purple kool aid here. Lacking any modicum of objectivity.
