  • The science of terrain

Absolutely great! So helpful to set up war games with well proportioned terrain. As some one that does Falklands war gaming I find it hard to make line of sight in my games effective but this just helped A ton to do just that

  • Great Podcast but…..

Great podcast guys. One suggestion though, please, please, please put in the information area for the specific podcast every rule set you talk about and what website to go to to for possible purchase. Time stamps also in the podcast info where the discussion starts would also be nice. Thanks.

  • Plastic v Metal

Love the pod but i think they missed the most important point which is the resale value of metal over plastic.

Metal being very much higher £5 to £10 a figure plastic being whatever you can get which usually is not much!!!

  • Fantastic Podcast!

I always look forward to the next podcast from the WSS team. News relating to all genres of tabletop miniature wargaming, light hearted banter between friends as they discuss the hobby and interviews with people who love the hobby or work in the tabletop gaming industry.

It feels like you are sitting in the same room listening to a bunch of mates talk about the hobby. Interesting and entertaining 👍

  • I love this podcast

This is my favorite wargaming podcast. I only wish they produced episodes more often- say twice a month. It’s just as rare a treat as the magazine, which is regrettable.

WSS97 - Themes and Questions
Q: Why as Wargamers encountering a new set of rules is our first thought, oh, I could use this for, insert period outside the designed scope to play? Is this a good thing?
It’s a natural inclination for gamers to adapt rules for their favorite periods, as they enjoy integrating mechanisms from various games for their own use.
WSS97 - Themes and Questions
Q: How do you separate historic gaming from the knowledge of history?
Most players can enjoy both the historical aspect of the game and the gaming experience. The key is to not impose rigid standards on others while enjoying historical accuracy.
WSS97 - Themes and Questions
Q: Is the current high level of terrain on gaming tables now becoming a barrier of entry to new players? What do we think?
The consensus is that while there are higher standards today, there are also more accessible avenues for acquiring quality terrain. Therefore, it may serve as an ambition rather than a barrier.
WSS94 - Competitive Gaming
Q: What would you say is the importance of scenarios and terrain in tournament play?
Scenarios should balance objectives, positioning, and combat to ensure a fair competition for all types of armies, and terrain should support immersion and gameplay.
WSS94 - Competitive Gaming
Q: What started you off in the tournament scene?
I was dragged in to help a mate out, and eventually found myself enjoying the organization side of tournaments.
