  • What happened?

What the heck happened to this podcast? It used to have substantial episodes with great insight, now it’s superficial takes delivered in 3 minute sound bites? Bring back the old format.

  • Great SEO show!

I listen to Voices of Search regularly and enjoy the episodes - particularly because they’re insightful but not too long. 20/30 minutes is ideal for me!

  • Too long, too often, too much wasted time

There is some SEO content and news of value here and it was fine when it posted daily 12 minute posts I could forgive it’s bloat. Now it’s often 25/30 minutes with additional ads.

Here’s how I listen to this. 2x speed. Skip the first 3.5 minutes which is all intro and ads. They sneak ‘one minute’ of ads halfway through at random. It is always 2 minutes so I skip 2 minutes and if I miss the start of the next question I mumble ‘we’ll that’s on you’. Then it ends with 2.5 minutes left. Can’t tell... more

  • Great experience as a guest!

I recently was a guest on the Voices of Search Podcast and it was a fantastic experience. The team was highly professional, communicated clearly every step of the way and arrived on time for the podcast recording. During the recording, they asked insightful and thought-provoking questions, and also gave me an opportunity to promote my new book. The finished product was edited professionally and the podcast team did their work promoting the episode. My guest spot definitely helped drive interest ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

One practice that you should absolutely be using
Q: Out of all the theories and principles and practices that we discussed today, what's the one that our listeners should take away and use?
The key takeaway is to actively consider audience biases and to reverse engineer from the actual search results your audience is generating, using that data to inform strategy and content decisions.
Will AI search continue to expand?
Q: Is this transformation of LLM models using search and search terms going to expand or decline over the next year?
It will expand in aggregate because we can search more things, but the use of traditional search will decline as it blends into how people interact with AI assistants.
The policy that we really want to see
Q: If there were one policy that you'd love to see, what would it be?
Garrett suggests prioritizing AI deployment regulation and interoperability, along with reducing DMCA IP barriers around the Internet of Things to enable smoother tech innovation.
Pitch to a marketing leader who says they’ll wait until AI attribution is clearer
Q: How should marketing leaders adjust their approach to AI attribution to avoid waiting for perfect clarity?
Leaders should move forward with a strategy-first plan that establishes a clear path for measurement, identify quick-win opportunities, and partner with experts who can integrate SEO, content, and technical work across teams to start showing value now rather than waiting for attribution to be fully defined.
One metric that will define GEO success in the next two years
Q: If you could have one KPI or metric that would define GEO success, what would it be?
Rahul argues that for B2B, the ultimate GEO success metric is transactions like a booked demo, as this reflects concrete business outcomes rather than just visibility.
