  • A very pro-artist perspective with a positive outlook

Ann does a great job including guests from voice technology companies and asking them the hard questions about artists’ payments in a future full of AI voices based on real people. Her banter with guests and cohosts feels very authentic and focused on the work of voice over. One of my top favorite VO podcasts up there with Working Class V.O., Audio Branding, and V.O. School.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Turning Debt Into Opportunity
Q: Should voiceover talent, or should people that want to get into the voiceover industry go into debt to pay for something like a booth, or to pay for their entrance into the industry?
Debt can be a useful tool if thought out strategically, but it's ideal to have funds set aside for predictable expenses.
The Problem with Playing It Safe.
Q: So these days, are you mostly doing voiceover, doing voiceover and performing?
I am still auditioning and doing a lot of voiceover, sometimes open to whatever happens.
The Problem with Playing It Safe.
Q: So talk to us a little bit, talk to the bosses and tell us a little bit how you first got into performance.
I started as an actor, wanted to be an actor for a long time and branched into different areas of performance.
Should You Pay to Play?
Q: Should voice actors pay for audition opportunities?
It's a complex issue; while some argue against paying, others see value in platforms that provide access to opportunities even if there's a cost involved.
Should You Pay to Play?
Q: What are your initial thoughts on the apology issued by Jay O'Connor?
It was a significant moment reflecting voices.com's acknowledgment of its past mistakes. Jay handled the questions from the audience reasonably well and seemed to take the concerns seriously.
