  • Excellent info from a knowledgeable and personable source!

Been listening to various episodes of Marc’s pod for awhile now. (I work in audiobooks and narration.) Marc not only has great insight on the world of VO; he always has excellent guests! The episode subjects are timely, relevant, and educational. I listen to A LOT of VO podcasts and this is one of my favourites. (Gotta use the Canadian spelling there for my fellow Great White Norther!)

  • Super helpful, motivating, and educational

Marc is incredibly generous with his time, his talent, and his knowledge. There are very few informational podcasts where I get excited when I see a new episode drop, but the VOpreneur Podcast does that for me.

I always learn something, or come away with something new to try in my own business, and the way he presents the information is helpful and succinct.

Thank you, Marc! Keep ‘em coming!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Is FOMO Running Your Voice Over Business with Amy Tallmadge
Q: What is your question about returning to commercial VO and industry expectations, and is there a trend toward on-call availability?
Amy asks whether being available with travel-ready gear is now the norm for commercial VO, and Marc responds with a nuanced view: gear helps in some cases but isn't an absolute requirement; industry differences (promo, automotive, political) and personal workflow determine what is necessary.
How to Make AI Recommend YOU as a Voice Actor
Q: How should a voice actor approach building content and pages to rank in AI-powered search and LLMs?
Develop genre-focused pages (e.g., documentary narration, radio imaging) and numerous 3- to 10-part content pieces. Use schema, refresh content regularly, and feed analytics data into AI tools to optimize what and how you present information so that AI and search engines reference your site when relevant questions are asked.
How to Make AI Recommend YOU as a Voice Actor
Q: What is the difference between SEO and GEO, and how can voice actors leverage these tools to get in front of more buyers?
SEO focuses on keywords and traditional search results, while GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) emphasizes context and the questions buyers are asking, with content tailored for AI and LLM-based summaries; the strategy is to create multiple, genre-specific pages and answer audience questions so AI can reference you as a credible source.
Which Voice Over Pay-to-Play Site Is Right for You with Fred North
Q: How does the pricing model influence the choice of platform for a voice actor focusing on commercial work?
Voices.com offers broad access with a single membership tier, which makes it straightforward and high-volume, while Voice123 requires choosing tiers that may or may not correlate with more auditions; Bodalgo offers lower volumes but a friendlier entry path and euro-based budgets.
Which Voice Over Pay-to-Play Site Is Right for You with Fred North
Q: What is happening in the pay-to-play space today and what should Fred look for in terms of ease of use and volume?
The guest emphasizes Bodalgo as the easiest to use with a favorable balance for both buyers and talent, while Voices.com offers massive audition access but with historical controversy over commissions; Voice123 provides volume via tiered access but requires careful profile optimization and strategic pitching.
